Don't listen to the naysayers out there, this game is a fantastic remake of the original. Of course, this is open world is not comparable with the likes of Witcher 3 - this is a game of 1999 in its core - but it has its own unique charme. Once you set foot on Adelpha, it doesn't matter if you play this version or 1.1, you will love it. Highly recommended!
It's just strange, I've been a huge fan of Rollcage and was really looking forward to this one. But, it just doesn't "click". Nothing makes sense: The cars are not handling like... I don't know. There is just little to no feedback. You can't feel the cars. Another big problem is the track design. Rollcage nailed it. This one just wants too much. The tracks are either far to wide, or complex, or too simple. Then, the feeling of speed just isn't transported. I really can't point my finger onto why though. The weapons have been perfect and impressive in Rollcage. Here they are just... random. Finally, the nail in the coffin is the sound: Those cars sound like small fans, not like racing machines. You can not "hear" the speed. Everything feels just wrong about this game. And I can't really say, why exactly. I think, the problem is in every little detail.
This is, by far, the best thing that Star Wars has brought us: The team of Lawrence Holland has created the best space-combat-simulator to date. The storyline is dense, the mechanics are complex, but intuitive, the games is pure awesomeness. You even start going to bed thinking, "I'm on duty". I should stay half-awake, in case we get attacked. :) Yes, it is that intense. They used X-Wing as an basis and upgraded the game by every aspect. Buy it. Play it. Feel it. PS: Do not event try to attempt playing this game without a joystick.
