The classic Pen-and-Paper Experience

+ classic turn based fighting + diverse and usefull loot, upgradable + sensible campaign mode o lots to read, but gets the mood right - only the most basic of animation (pen-and-paper-like)

Crossroads Inn Anniversary Edition

Decent Effort

I waited for the Anniversary Edition because of all the negative reviews I saw. After more than 10 hours of play I can say that it runs stable for me (Intel i7 / Nvidia 1080 setup). I did not entcounter anything I would consider a bug. You should not put more than two doors on a building square. That may cause problems. But that is obvious from the radii of the doors anyway. The game itself is well done. A decent effort, nothing extraordinary, but that is reflected in the price tag. I like the graphics with their "drawn and tinted" style. Animations are limited but sufficient from your usual bird's eye perspective. The world's atmosphere is fine, the writing works well. Audio is good enough, English speech is fine. The music is fitting albeit limited in length. The main caveat I have is with the interface. You can get to do everything you want to, but often the way there is not straightforward. For instance, building pieces and furniture are not sorted intuitively (at least for me). In the market interface there are filters for food ingridients but not for consumables like candles. I would like a filter for those items I put in the overview bar on the main screen. Also, I cannot easily switch from one market to another. Maybe I will find solutions to some of my problems, but overall the interface seems to be rather a hinderance. But it was easier to learn than Dwarf Fortress... All in all the game is good enough that I will keep playing it for a considerable time and in no way feel that I wasted my money.
