Aging gamer here so my requirements may be different. Overall, I like the game, but some things prevent me from continued play. Game is too fast paced at my advanced age. I know that building can be accomplished at pause, but when pause is turned off then (for me) it once again becomes too frantic. I quickly lose interest, I would rather take it slower. Plus: - looks ok to me - mostly not bothered by the overall graphic design of the game with a few exceptions - unbothered by how they display war Negative: - zoom in 1 or 2 notches closer would have been great - 0.5 speed is not slow enough for my gaming needs - 1 or 2 slower speed notches is what I would need - the left and right menu selections are much too small (for me) - a lower resolution selection would help
-An excellent computer game, in the WW2 turn-based combat genre. -Basic game UI works flawlessly on my W7 64 bit machine. -Seems to be supported with periodic updates. -Decent unit graphics, many different types of units. I enjoy it to the point that I periodically purchase DLC. -I do have a minor issue: This computer was put together a few years ago expressly for flight sim, and handles flying quite well. However, Order of Battle definitely can slow down this computer to a point where the game is still very playable, but you start scratching your head. Have tried various in-game settings adjustments, but that never completely solves frame-rate issues. Thus, 4 stars.
I agree with all of the previous reviewers pro's, and con's. A decent sequel to the Panzer General type of computer game. It's definitely worth buying, and playing, but would benefit from some updating. I purchased the core game and all DLC content. The UI is very solid, the game works flawlessly on my Windows 7 64 bit. 4 stars could easily be 5 stars with an update.
I was forced to ask for a refund as I could not advance past the Guadalcanal battle without crashing to the desk top. It did not work with my Windows 7 64 bit computer. I have played the original game, which I thought was loads of fun, albeit a bit difficult and at times confusing. Still, in my opinion worth buying if it works. I'm giving it 3 stars because even though it did not work on my computer it's a classic game and worth trying.
I had wanted to purchase the DRM free version, but now regret doing so. I feel this title is far inferior to the original Blitzkrieg, which I purchased here and still play. There is just something wrong with this game that I can't put my finger on. I'm unsure if it's the coloring, scale, scenario construction, or something completely different. I tried a single scenario, and started the 1st campaign. I could not finish either one and reluctantly removed this series of game from my computer. I give it one star because GoG is great, and maybe the next customer will love this game.
I really enjoy most aspects of this computer game, even though I'm not a very accomplished city builder. It's a lot of fun starting up these cities for Caesar, and watching them take shape. So, not being very talented at city building, I of course start lot's of cities, abandon them, and start over. I have lot's of problems with Caesar 3 and walkers. I'm sure there are many who explore the game in to microscopic minutiae so they can exploit the faults of the game, However, not my thing. In a nutshell, I believe that is why this game is successful. You can play micro manager, or you can be a casual city builder for a few hours. Caesar 3 works perfectly on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer.
This game is not my thing. Moving forward and advancement within the game was far too tedious for this gamer. Having said that, I have to give a rating of at least 3 stars. It's obviously a beautiful, and very well thought out game. It has excellent graphics and sound. It worked perfectly on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer. I personally found that controlling Indy with my keyboard to be clumsy, and non-rewarding. Just not my thing.
This game, as expected, has very retro graphics. However, I still enjoyed playing the game very much. It reminded me of playing Police Quest I. Seems like there are a few different paths to success, and the casual gamer can peruse online walk-thrus, should that be necessary. The more serious gamer, of course, can fight through to the bitter end. There is a lot of positive content in this game that makes it worthwhile to purchase. It worked perfectly on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer.
I already owned the original boxed version of Stronghold, but purchased these castle builders, as well as Space Colony, to explore the games in HD. I find that I don't really need these games in HD, and always revert to non-HD when possible. You live, and you learn. The game, well it's a very nice castle builder.
I almost play this game every day. It's not really on my list of the greatest games ever told. It's just that I go into Blitz mode and play army ant farm with all of the units. Like another review, I find the artificial intelligence and the path taking absolutely ridiculous (most of the time). So, I relieve some of the pressures of the day and go Blitz. I personally find attempts at strategy to be a complete waste of time, as the units will not reward you for your effort. There are some excellent aspects of Blitzkrieg if one takes into consideration the entire package as a whole. Beautifully designed units springs to mind. A plethora of DLC is another positive aspect. Even though I only rate Blitzkrieg Anthology at 3, it's still a good game, I'm entirely satisfied with the purchase.
