I bought this game mainly based off aesthetics. I am pleased to say that it was much more than that. It is a 2D rougelike action platformer with great pixel art. It probably has some of the best pixel art you'll see this year at least. The main gameplay loop: You fight your way through a total of five stages, with a boss at the end of each. Of course there are skills to unlock to help you get farther, which are bought with something called Judge blood. Judge blood and "regular" blood are collected by killing enemies. "Regular" blood is used to buy upgrades, guns, or mods for your gun for that run. Speaking of guns, there are a few options in this game: the pistol you start with, shotguns, lasers, machine guns, and assault rifles. There isn't that many options for each category. You really just want the most powerful one. The melee combat in this game is the most interesting to me. While this is a platformer and there are platforms in the game, that is not the main appeal here. You play as a ninja. You are able to float in mid air as you slash at enemies. That's what makes this game so unique from other rougelikes. It prioritizes mobility and speed more than anything else. So that Eurogamer quote, "Dead Cells meets Celeste," is not correct at all in my opinion. Overall it's a great game.

This game is quite creative. It's as simple as can be while also being engaging enough to keep you occupied. The music fits perfectly. It is a perfect game to play while you losten to music or a podcast.
