I enjoyed it for what it was. the difficulty is nice, its a easy to learn, hard to master type of game. But ultimatively I had enough. Like metal gear rising revengeance, you need to do some brutal millisecond accurate reflect and avoid gunshots combat that annoys me to no end. Issue being, after 4 hrs even with the slower enemy bulletspeed perk and all perkconfigurations played around with, I never got a flow that consistently made me better in the game with reflecting and actually mastering the combatsurvival. I´m too old for this and i don´t drink energy drinks, i regularly die from missing 50 ms reaction time windows to reflect a projectile. like in multiplayer games call of duty, R6, its always this oh, my brain took a few ms too long to click and i have to retry or die. and I don´t care anymore. I finally have to accept that twitch gameplay is a nogo for me from here on out in my life in every game. The reflect animation like modern games have it nowadays, is bound to a somewhat fast but not fast enough arm animation and I can´t handle it, I need it instant. no animation allowed or else my muscle reflexes get confused. i finished 50% of the game and while i found the trial and error combat puzzles kind of boring at first, I grew to love them, only did I not anticipate how bad the movement is. The slowmo timedash is always just forward and backwards even when you hold A or D, most airsteering is done by mouse, since A and D buttons become useless. a constant one directional flow that often fails in connecting between platformrunning. you play very slowly movementwise but have to be lightning fast with the mouse and reaction times. it creates this giant disconnection of flow for me which i grew to hate about this game. most of the time you might struggle to wallrun in some sections since you couldnt control movement midair as well as in other games. It breaks the pacing and flow. Story is servicable. Characters seem motivated. No level variety though.
I´m going to make it short and spicy. So..... whats good and what´s bad? Positive: - Raytraced High End PC gaming, pure graphics porn this game. - Crysis, metro like body feeling in first person with meaty heavy satisfying to kill weapons, and good parkour movement and immersive perception when playing - nice driving, gore and combat pacing and flow in general, real badassery, good powerfantasdy but also good basic far cry stealth with deus ex hacking elements. - the feeling, the atmopshere, the detail in the streets, the illusion of a bustling city (with crowd desnity on high) is there, as long as you don´t look too close, dissapearing cars, fake npc´s, shitty npc spawn system and other amateur mistakes.. oh wait this is suppossed to be in negatives...... - REPETITIVE, REPETITIVE missions. save this guy,do that, its like somebody just said, lets take sneaky hacky portions from deus ex and pack it into far cry with witcheresque rpg elements. Negative: - Graphics have dozen bugs and or bad downgraded code, from rtx reflection flickering on the side of my screen to sprite basded pixelated fog and smoke, to animations bugs..... - Janky first person movement and animation work meets bugs and repetitive enemies with a limited number of melee finish animations, can create a jank feeling similar to fallout new vegas sometimes. But thankfully only sometimes. - outdated design systems like too small itemtext, bad inventory system with unrebindable keybinds, console UI for a game that only looks good on pc..... fuck. as if they smoked crack at CDPR. - Immersionbreaking mistakes like annoying ads in every room playing loudly over dialogue and ruining the atmopshere of a scene or they simply get annoying once you enter a room to loot and they are everywhere and theres no permanent way to disable them except shoot a few and MAN IM GOING MAD. good ads but....... plenty of such bad design flaws. not a profesionally crafted game. more like a prototype for the sequel.
Cliffhanger unsatisfactory ending, combat is barely existant and half the time a joke, expect this to be more of a walking sim detective supernatural mystery story with gameplay elements rather than survival combat emphasized walking n surviving with story like the long dark. You have a truck at the beginning, but later a snowmobile. You walk or drive, shoot, lure with bait or kill (wolves), and solve puzzles. That´s all in the gameplay loop. The characters are well shaped and written, your drive to uncover this mystery will overcome your frustration that the game has no gameplay to offer besides some micromanagement for heat and a few wolves. It´s more like a small open worldish exploration game with a strong emphasis on story. Very much so with a fine atsmophere on top. Intriguing woods at night or political and racial or also spousal minor conflicts on top the bigger layer, nothing too modern though, classy. It shows that black hates white like everything does anything if there´s a given reason. Enlightenment doesn´t fix human flaws. Puzzles also sometimes are a bit too pixelhuntish, keys and that sort of stuff. But even though I had to use a walkthrough once or twice, I still found this urge to fill up my journal and find all clues. Overall graphics and system performance, optimization etc yada yada, alt tabbing, this game has it all and it offers it all. Works absolutely flawlessly for me. On top, easy to run performance. We are talking easy 1800p60+ maxed with a 1080ti on standard clocks. Most of the time you just toss all the loot in your truck and take out what you need to advance. No brainer gameplay. Only 10 min max combat in a 8 hr game. Don´t bother with seeking combat in this. Imagine if the vanishing of ethan carter had a baby with the atmosphere of the long dark but with the gameplay approach to open world design of a metro exodus but with combat like an asset flip from steam greenlight. the game itself is wholy unique though artistically.
First of, the BFG edition is only if you don´t want to fuck around with the microstutter issues, fov issues, console commands, and other tons of issues of the original DOOM3 for modern OS´s. Hence I choose it over the original. as dialogue audio cutscene audio and generally the story are just cringey shit for fanboys. I mostly ignored those if they got too tiresome. I don´t care about some microminor censorship of some random non gore related stuff, or worse speechaudio or even the flashlight changes. What pissed me the fuck off is how bad the game in general is, OG DOOM3 as well as BFG. The BFG Edition has the same shit audiomixing as the OG DOOM3 but worse sample rates for voices and cutscenes. Thanks consolecompression..... The rest is fine, brightness is balanced and can be adjusted without much white filtering, you sadly can´t skip cutscenes and those also were downgraded, but the 90% of the game´s experience is the same. I recommend the mod BFA Edition. BFG Edition has retweaked ammo balancing and difficulty and made them too plentiful, ripping out the survival horror aspects of the game. At the beginning you will be scared a bit, especially if you turn off the HUD in the console, but at some point the jumpscares will only annoy you SO MUCH. I still recommend to play it on easiest mode because, let´s be honest, the entire game feels like a giant LONGASS SLUGGISH SEWER LEVEL IN SPACE with some fresh air once you get into the hell levels. Sadly those levels are only 30 mins and that´s it. The level design is constant revenant shooting rockets meets corridors... good luck not getting your health constantly unfairly taken from you, because having a shotgun equipped that sounds whimpy and barely hits anything, instead of a plasma rifle. Good luck dodging the spalsh damage of those rockets. Same goes for camping hellknights and other idiotic annoyances. From start to finish by the way. Pacing is nonexistent. AVOID THIS PRODUCT.
I couldn´t stay in fullscreen mode, always switched back to windowed, some weird framepacing hitching if vsync is off, couldn´t save seemed intentional from the devs for the demo, crashed once the first enemy was introduced, worked afterwards though. Got stuck between a railing and some medical device. Random gpu usage numbers in certain scenes and pretty high demanding gpu wise, running 1080ti and I could only max 1620p on high with textures and AA on ultra, added by a i5 9600k on 4.9ghz Melee combat still needs some refinement but is close to the original hit and step back or shift and circle around or hit, run, hide and repeat type of combat. I like the guns, some textures could use higher resolution, like the tile puzzles for the lifts, couldn´t make out anything there until you realize, it´s really simple. Movement is excellent! Map needs refinement to clarify where I´m looking and also needed a bit bigger indicators for items so people don´t just run past them easily, maybe make them a bit bigger in general? My eyes aren´t hawk eyes sadly. Gun sounds could use some bass, so does the melee, otherwise animations are all fine and very professionallly smooth. When there´s such an amount of static noise or radio call with bad signal as in the beginning, I found it a bit hard to understand the voice and subtitles didn´t work, they also hurt to listen to on the high frequency spectrum, needs more bass to smooth it on the ear, it´s too pitchy. Audio logs are clear and fine with good voice acting though. Inventory and UI is great except for the fact if you warp it to the max, the minimap level indication is cut off on the lower half of the screen. and the plasma color oiption adds too much and too blurry chromatic abberation, which doesn´t exist on the normal hacker UI color. Enemies could make more sound and move a lot more. They were pretty static and anticlimactic, hurt the atmopshere and immersion. I wonder how the non pre alpha looks like!
Great game even with its weaknesses, proper triple a game with immersive sim mechanics, mediocre filler story but good stealth and decent AI. After all the patches and some modern hardware runs like a dream and on top it has all the dlc´s in the season pass for less than 10 bucks! Looks great too and on top I now can fully OWN MY DATA. This is what I love. Metro Exodus next pls! Top game for a unbelievable low price at gog release. Make it yours!

I´m rocksolid and i have no regrets, in fact, i´d buy it twice just in case thers funding needed. This is in fact, waaayyyyy better than quake in many regards.
Dank developers, dank gameplay, dank amount of updates and love, sadly bit gay compared to postal 2. But fits the satire this time, it´s a pretty gay soy latte time we have. So let´s piss down some hipster and yuppies throats! Weapons..... man.... postal 2 guns felt like SHIT in comparison to the awesome unreal engine 4 equivalents in postal 4 and this is ALPHA. Support them! I dishonor your entire gypsie bandwagon posse that you call family if you don´t, this ain´t no option, DIS A ROBBERY. They put civvie in this game. Tedious as fuck pacing, no actual gameplay, like a bloober game BUT! redpill after redpill including some damn awesome occult, political and theological exchanges. Art and architecture is AMAZING at points, decisions do make dramatic changes BUT lipsync is off, characters are ugly bastards, performance is horrid on gtx1060 or equivalent and lower, controls are okkk, pacing is fucked. Overall pretty poor game EXCEPT in its formula. Spending points, talking, conversations, and the general story is fantastic despite mediocre ending which leaves you satisfied though. I can recommend this game to anyone who loves smoking reefer and reading occult, esoteric and generally highly philosophical texts and literature like Kybalion, John Milton´s Paradise Lost as examples. The books in the game gave me enough to study already. Paracelsus was a weird motherfucker...... Redpill the game on top some rothschild based conspiracy about napoleon, washingtons freemasonry, "plottwist" and how easy it seems to some to imagine what the illuminati, bilderberg etc would actually behave like. Grown up children /Kappa. And this is where it crumbles, sometimes it´s serious, other times it´s execution turns out to be... comical. Some femi sentence here, some conserv sentence here, you can see I´m emphasizing this hard as it´s a pretty long game for it´s pacing issues and you really need some love for classic literature, philosophy, history and sadly some too comical fantasy elements. Recommended for any knowledge seeking based lifeform. Not recommended for the casual adventure player who wants to enjoy themselves in a lovely game.
