Homeworld: Emergence

The best Homeworld game

This is actually my favourite Homeworld game. It's got a great story that you don't need to have played the other games to understand, but it actually has some enhancements that weren't even included in HW2, even though it came later!

Omikron: The Nomad Soul

A wonderful world

The nomad soul was the first game by the studio that brought you Heavy Rain. It cast you as the titular "nomad soul" which could transfer between characters. Featuring third person adventure, first person shooter and side scrolling beat-em-up sections, if anything this game was too ambitious and can feel a bit awkward at times, but the game more than makes up for it by introducing an amazing amount of freedom for a game released in the late 90s. Paired with a compelling story and a great soundtrack (by David Bowie no less!) you can forgive the parts where the game doesn't quite reach it's high goals. If you like unique games, get this. There's nothing quite like it.

Krush Kill 'N Destroy Xtreme

Best C&C clone

KKND is one of the few games that really understood what made C&C more than just an RTS. You can expect cheesy acting and flippant mission briefings. All good fun!

Startopia

Truly one of a kind

Startopia is a must-have for anyone who's a fan of the management genre. With brilliant graphics that haven't dated all that much and and a genuinely wonderful Douglas Adams sense of humour*, this game gets so many things right and, crucially keeps things interesting. Seasoned players may find the game a bit short, but that's probably the worst thing I could say about this game. For £5.99 it's a steal! *note the "u". this is a British game through and through.
