Forgotton Anne

A true adventure

Normally I like Adventure games more than platformers, but due to excellent reviews I made an exception with Forgotton Anne. I am more than positively surprised and I have to admit that this game is as near to being a narrative, story driven, strong in character interaction-non-point and click (but WSAD- (!)) controlled game as possible. The world is presented obsessed with detail and very often allows the player to explore the background switching between layers of the graphics. This gives depth to all landscapes. Another point rendering it more an adventure than a jump and run is that there are no real fights against enemies and dialogue plays a prominent role in the game. Maybe now that 2.5D landscapes can be this atmospheric and deep...it could indeed be the future for narrative driven adventure games! It definitively makes more sense than making a cursor controlled Grim Fandango. If you love such games, play the mouse controlled version...or give Forgotton Anne a try! ;)
