Stellaris: Galaxy Edition

One of the best I've played

I had to write a review because I see a lot of bad reviews. I personally have not had many issues and I willingly buy all the new expansions and all pretty much as soon as they are released. Paradox still is taking care of this game many years after release and Nemesis especially breathed complete new life into this title for me. The ability to be a galaxy destroying menace or defender of the galaxy or even pull a full blown Emporer Palpatine type thing and create the Empire is pretty fun. No game will ever be perfect or without problems, but Paradox does put a lot of work into this game and it does show they care a lot. The AI ALWAYS can use improvement but it has gotten a lot better than it used to be.I spend hours playing this and always change up how I approach how I want my civilization to turn out. The depth, the choice, the features, the vast number of ways you can even set your planets up are things that just make this game incredibly fun. I recommend this wholeheartedly. Paradox is honestly doing a fine job and this is one game I have yet to regret buying. I'm excited for Overlord!

Astrox Imperium

Amazing

I rarely leave reviews but all I can honestly say is two things. It's very well developed and you can absolutely tell that the developer really cares immensely about this game. It is most certainly EVE Offline as people call it and that's the draw for me. I tried EVE and it was a little much for me but this game is more approachable as it's single player and you can just take your time and learn without anyone bothering you much. It's very in depth in it's current state and I can say honestly, it's one of the best space games I've played. Did i mention the developer cares? That's icing on the cake. A lot of these early access titles go so far and wind up being abandoned. This game I can pretty much guarantee that that will not happen. You can tell that it's well developed and the creator really truly loves his own game and wants to make this one hell of an experience for everyone who plays and so far he's totally killing it and meeting his goal. I love this game and I recommend anyone who reads this review to just buy it. Don't feud with yourself, don't wait, don't make excuses... This really is one you shouldn't pass up and this developer deserves our support. I cannot stress enough how obvious it is that he cares, immensely. Thanks for the wonderful game Jace, please don't quit. This is amazing and better than most titles the AAA companies put out.

STAR WARS™ Battlefront (Classic, 2004)

Amazing Game

I just got this yesterday and it brings back a lot of memories of lost weekends. This is definitely Battlefield but in the Star Wars universe. It's very well done and my biggest thing about this is lots to do with regard to single-player if you're a single player fan like me. Lots of maps to play on, lots of vehicles, just lots of Star Wars awesomeness in this game. Think of this as a sandbox game, it's open world and you run around and pretty much do whatever. Blow things up, repair things, shoot, take over map points... etc etc. Comparing these games to the new Battlefront hames is pointless though. The new games have their place in the gaming world and many including myself do compare this to the old Battlefield games. What I will say is look at the modern Battlefield games and then the modern Battlefront games. They have gone in the same direction therefore there's no comparision. What I will say, this game is extremely fun, will take a lot of hours of your time because of the immersive action you'll find yourself in, and it's definitely worth the money. I will say that anyone who own this should pick of it's 2005 successor as well. Both very well done and well worth it. I still play both a lot and love every minute of it. Thanks GOG for bringing this amazing classic back, you had it, it disappeared for unknown reasons, and now it's back hopefully for good. Get this one all, it's definitely worth it.

Forsaken Remastered

Amazing "Descent Clone"

I remember when this game was for the N64 and it brings back memories. Descent has always been a truly amazing line of games and the new Overload is a great addition from the same makers. Butm not this game, I have to say the if you love Descent (which is why I mention the games above) you should like this. It's got a great soundtrack and all but what I will say, don't go into it expecting Descent, it's really a game in it's own right that follows Descent's "formula" and gameplay ideas. But I'll say it, I spent many hours back on the N64 version and always came back to it over and over. I am so glad this has been remastered and is back out again for enjoyment again. I recommend it if you love Descent as I said and are looking to add games that follow the same idea to your collection. This is one of the best "Descent clones" out there. So be prepared for a fun time with this. I have 5 stars because I have nothing bad to say about this game. It's well done and was well developed. And thanks for remastering it devs, I of all appreciate a game of this caliber making a reappearance.

Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation

Ugh

I was excited when I saw trailers for this game. I bought it when it came out here on GOG. But two factions, bland gameplay, no imagination at all behing the design. Do yourselves a favor and get Supreme Commander if you want futristic gameplay. I've bought all the DLCs and have bought Escalation too hoping the game would get better. It has not. 1 star because honestly, this isn't that good of a game. Can be fun to play once in a while but honestly, not well done at all. I don't see where this game stands at all on it's own merits.

Scanner Sombre

Introversion can do so much better

For a company who has brought us games like Darwinia and Defcon and recently Prison Architect... They can do better then this. You are pretty much just walking around a cave with a scanner. The problem I'm having is it's not always easy to figure out where to go and making out what things are can be a challenge at times. Also, there's this spot with a bridge with a gaping hole in it that seems to be a show stopper, have yet to figure out where to go and it's mainly because trying to "see" where to go can be very hard as stated before. My abysmal rating is because Introversion puts out a TON of good games and I am a huge fan of the company in general. I really honestly like to see them trying new things, but this "game" if you want to call it that is the worst piece of crap this company has ever put out. I don't see where any effort was made to crank out a decent product that aligns with the quality of past products. I paid 5 bucks for it so no loss on my part but I'm disappointed in Introversion for cranking out something that they should've known wasn't "them". As I stated, their past products are incredibly good and they are one of the best Indie game companies out there, hands down. But I cannot recommend this game to anyone sadly, just stay away.

Master of Orion

Amazing game

I see a lot of people aren't happy with this game but I have to say, I bought the collectors edition not long ago and haven't had much time to play it until today. I've never been one for turn based strategy games but I find this one to be very engaging and well done. It's easy to get into and there's nothing horribly hard about the game mechanics. It's fun to research new technologies and build up planets. Personally I find the fact you can terraform planets that are barely habitable into earth-like planets. It all takes time and patience but honestly the game is amazing. The combat is stellar in my opinion and I definitely cannot say anything bad about this game. Very well done and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I haven't played a game this good in quite a while and I can say honestly I'll keep coming back for more.
