While playing Diablo 3 I kept pushing myself to log in and push a little farther expecting/hoping the game would get better. I made several characters and tried multiple ways to play, but I could not make myself like Diablo 3. The game is not bad, but good grief, can it get tedious. After another boring session with Diablo 3 I stumbled upon Grim Dawn while looking through sales on GOG and Steam. While I like to purchase my games at GOG, Steam had Grim Dawn first and while it was under development. Faced with the prospect of logging once more into Diablo 3 or purchasing an unfinished Grim Dawn, I literally ran into the arms of Grim Dawn. From the first minutes of play I knew there was something special about Grim Dawn. After several weeks of playing nothing else it occurred to me that I was happy! Today I have at least 30 characters, some with the exact same "dual spec" but different talents chosen and equipment. Those who play know that is a waste, because you can always respec, but for me, the characters were so good and the play so well done that I did not want to respec. I actually wanted the different characters, enough to level them up on their own. I have never played a game that made me feel that way. Character development through the skill trees and the different items encouraged me to make one character after another so I could enjoy each of their unique play styles. If quality of fun can be measured by how many characters a player is willing to play then the score is Diablo 3 four, Grim Dawn 30 plus and still growing. Diablo 3 is no longer on my hard drive.
