Scratches is not a bad game but in the end, after you play from beginning to end, you're left feeling let down. That isn't to say you won't get scared. This game has a great atmosphere but its the mechanics that constantly thwart your plan and tear you kicking and screaming from immersion. Most adventure games, admit-ably can have you roaming around trying to find out what to do next but in Scratches it seems that at every turn you have to go and touch every thing you possibly can before you come to the conclusion you're not doing something right. For Instance: Early in the game, as you first settle into the house, you're trying to make time pass but like some games you need to do something to cause the progression of the time. Without any clue, you can search the house high and low and never figure out what to do till you stumble upon it and the story moves slightly further. This occurs almost back to back in this game. Its this frustration that makes the game longer than it would be if objectives were more clear. Again. The game isn't bad but I would suggest finding someone who owns it first and try it for about 30 min then decide if you'd like to own it.
