I like this way better than Heroes 2 or 3. Your hero is a guy on the battlefield you have to protect, or you can hire a theif hero who sneaks around by herself without any troops. You get caravans so you can recruit from your castle and dont have to run a hero out to each creature dwelling each week. And creatures are available for hire throught the week so its not like troops are only there to hire on day 1 each week. And the primary/secondary skill system makes sense. On heroes 2 and 3 you can get stuck with random skills you dont really want (like eagle eye) but in this game you pick one or two primary skills and then you get secondary skills that support them. And its cool how your hero can become a different hero type based off what skills you learn (ie your cleric starts with life magic and can learn combat to become a paladin, they can learn nobility to become a cardinal, tactics to become a crusader, or they can learn chaos magic to become a heretic) Tho 3do was going out of business when they made this game so it isnt nearly as polished as the other games. Thats why it got 4 instead of 5 stars. I havent tried any mods for the game tho
