The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Great Game, But Some Noticeable Flaws

The overall most helpful review by TigerLord does a good job of summing up all of the main issues I had with this game, except for one big thing. The save system in this game is embaressingly bad. It's worse than the save system of games from 20 years ago. No ability to overwrite saves? Saves constantly stack up more and more, until the game lags for 10 - 15 seconds every time you try to load a save? (Even though I have a super fast SSD.) And then if you want to delete all the old saves, you can't select multiple at once. You just have to click and tediously delete them all one by one, and each time you delete a file, the game takes 10 - 15 seconds to register it. The save system in Witcher 1 and Witcher 3 was better than Witcher 2. I'm really not sure what they were thinking with this one lol, doesn't seem to make much sense at all. Some of you may also be surprised to hear that there was a game breaking bug two or three times where I got stuck in an area the game didn't expect me to be, with no way to escape, and so I had to go back and reload. The game also crashed on me on at least a half dozen different occasions, so save often. There were also certain missions that, without warning, because you were curious and wanted advance the main story a bit, suddenly caused you to fail several of the side missions because you progressed in the story too far. As a perfectionist and a person with OCD this may bother you a bit like it did me. Sometimes it was obvious when the chapter was about to end, but at other times it was unexpected and caused me to wanna reload and go back so I wouldn't fail so many of the side missions. But of course I still give this a 4 out of 5 for an excellent story and characters and writing with good graphics that still hold up amazingly til this day. But even as a Witcher fanboy myself who owns all the games, I have to admit that there are some really weird bugs and glitches and strange design choices in this one that deserve criticism.
