I feel the like the game is a 3rd person rpg mix between Fallout and STALKER. Really enjoying the free roaming and non-linear feel to it. You are free to just wonder around and complete some quests and find new items to help you in the long run. If you pay close attention, you will see that there are many cultural and popular game references in the NPC dialogue. You should be aware that you will die a lot, its normal. Just like in Baldurs Gate when you run into an enemy that is out of your league. I save scum, that is that F5 is there for. I really have no complaints, I have not had any technical issues or game breaking bugs. I have not run across anything in the story that took away from the experience. Makes me want to go back and play the Fallout series which I never got around to doing. This has easily become one of my favorite games released in the last couple years. If you like Fallout, Battletech, Dragon Age Origins, Baldurs Gate, IceWind Dale, and those types of games, this one is for you!!!
Pick this game up on sale for $4.99 and it will be worth the 4-5 hours of play. Pros: Fun mech game with various vehicles and individual weapons. Mindless 3rd person shoot-em up. If you like games like "Zombie Shooter", "Alien Breed", "Running with Guns", "Mechwarrior", you will like this game. Cons: No customization whatsoever. Multiplayer is dead. You are asked to buy characters to unlock them. Linear play with no free roaming. 4-5 hours of single player max. Feels like a mobile port. Conclusion: Fun for 4-5 hours. If you like driving various vehicles including Mechs, then this will be fun for you.
This is one of the greatest games ever made. I purchased the CD game over 16 years ago, and still have it today. With the help of Dosbox, I go back and play this game multiple times over the past 16 years.
This is one of the BEST sims ever created. I originally purchased the game and expansion back in the 90's and paid $120 at the store for the CDs. Still have those. I lost the manual 10 years later, and paid again $40 for the game just so I could get the manual back. You have the choice of playing with realistic controls, or easier arcade controls. The manual is HUGE, and goes into detail on all the flight controls. There is nothing sweeter than blowing away Russian tanks with your HellFire missiles. Definitely worth the price on GOG if you have not played it before, or you want to play it again.
