STAR WARS™: Knights of the Old Republic

5 star despite the bugs

The strongest aspect of the game is unquestionably the characters and the excellent story. Although a Windows game it runs well on Linux inside WINE (if antialiasing is disabled, which causes white background). There are bugs which are not platform specific sadly. The most annoying is the fact that after most fight the actively selected character cannot move anymore. The only fix is saving then loading or switching to another character who is still not stuck.

Spiritfarer®: Farewell Edition

A game about believable characters

Every character is totally different, each with their unique animations and backstory. It's very hard to choose a favourite, but I feel this is a game where it was very easy to connect with the characters. You also have a cat and you can pet Daffodil!

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Probably the best Deus Ex ever

After playing with both Deus Ex 2 and 3 and enjoying both of them I heard that Deux Ex 1 is superior to all. Now I know the truth. There is a lot of similarity in all of these games. There are always multiple approaches to any kind of situation. I have a huge preference to stealth and non lethal weapons in all of these games and this is by far the best.

Realpolitiks

Nice internal politics, but otherwise lacking

Plenty of shortcomings in UI/UX, foreign policy is overly simplistic and basic. Battles are not bad. Internal politics on the other hand is nicely done! + I like how the control+interventionism+militarism level defines the type of government countries have. - A very big issue is that 90% of the time not much is happening outside of clicking on new projects and waiting for projects to finish and also declining all request from your factions. This would be bearable if there would be a really high speed setting (like in Paradox games).

Firewatch

Nice, Personality building game

Pretty short story and while in itself isn't at all that exceptional, the way it's unfolding slowly is pretty damn good. The game is very much focused on your decision. A lot of LOT of conversations and pretty high quality stuff. Firewatch definitely does not feel replayable. I can' t imagine that anyone playing this game wouldn't want to go firewatching after the first hour of gameplay.

Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy (1999)

After 20 years it still plays nice

Don't expect anything shiny from an old game like Amerzone in terms of graphics and visual effects. But! You should expect superb story telling, fantastically beautiful art, cute animals. Oh and cogwheels, pulley systems, counterweights, weird machines, Benoît Sokal stuff like in Syberia. Overall this is a pretty simple game, definitely linear, but since it's so short and aesthestically pleasing there's no time to get bored with it.
