..., but fun till the end nonetheless. I played on the hardest difficulty, which is extremely easy compared to other "twinstick-shooters" in lieu of a better term, and had taken my time with this game, did all the achievements and even got all the raid weapons and all in all, I had lots of fun with it. The game delivers many things I would like more games to do, especially the ship combat, but at the same time it's all pretty much always not as fleshed out and in depth as I imagined it to be. For instance by making something just completely redundant like in the case of being able to teleport the fathership, which isn't really helping at all, because you can fast travel to it and any other gas station whenever you want and there are lots of them as well as a pretty small open world in the first case. Wish they'd kept the farming from early access, but, as I said, a lot of fun till the end nonetheless.
It's not like I didn't have any fun with this game, but that feeling was mostly in the first 30 minutes of the game. Then the repetitious gameplay get's stale very quickly. It wasn't even the quests I had the biggest problem with, but the enemies, who, no matter which of the three races they represent, are exactly the same, just reskins. Ranged or Melee enemies are pretty much the same enemy. The only "special" enemies are the Mages and Healers, as the latter can't fight and only heals, the former can fight you or strengthen his teammates. The only enemy (not counting bosses) who has more than one action to choose. This game would have needed an actually good battling system with more varied enemies and I would have liked it, but for what it is, I can't recommend it. Regarding the DLC: Exactly the same as the main game, but shorter, alas only one race to fight against now, which are just a reskin of the same enemies from the main game. Played it right after completing the main game, which wasn't the greatest idea, as it's, as I've mentioned, exactly the same.
This is exactly the type of game I'd like more of in the future, I already liked the first one, but was immensely disappointed by it's extremely lackluster and frustrating DLC and just really wasn't that scared, while this game actually made me nope out of two times. This game keeps the visuals of it's predecessor and makes them even more cinematic and grim, while throwing you into these detailed, lifeless environments full of dangers. And the best of all? The ending left me in shock and awe, speechless, full of thoughts. This game made me think and wanting more of it, while leaving me kind of empty, but a good empty, a feeling I only felt from a select few games, I especially made a list for after completing this game. All of which are part of what I think are the best games ever made in terms of story, gameplay or both. If you have ever played through HM 2 or LISA, you know that feeling. This feeling of having played a Masterpiece, having had an experience you can never experience for the first time again. You may not like this game or the feeling it leaves you with, but I personally loved every second of it.
Don't get me wrong there with the score, it's definitely better than average. While I had quite a lot of fun with this game I have to say that it simply lacks in quite a lot of aspects, specifically the puzzles sometimes just having bizzare solutions and there just not being that many possible joke combinations of items. I'm sorry, but I'm just too used to there being way more interactivity with your items in a Point 'n click game. But the plot is decent enough, the jokes I liked, I really liked (especially the optional (I think) throw chicken at car moment) and the whole finale definitely made this experience worth my time, while being completely free. So if you expect a game on par with the greatest point 'n click games of all times, than this probably won't meet your expectations, but it's still a great time.
So, there's not much to add which hasn't already been said, but this game is extremely immersive. Fully recommended to anyone who likes Star Wars and/or FPS, as the game shines in it's gameplay aspects as well. Only thing I had an issue with were a few graphical bugs, which could be attributed to it's age and the aiming feeling a bit off, at least on my PC. Other than that, you really feel for your squadmates, who all were animated like a real elite commando squad, while keeping their different characteristics through the intense and well made voice acting. Only Thing I still wish they would have added is an actual co-op campaign. The game feels like it's perfectly made for that, but it's just not included, which is truly a humongously missed chance. If there ever will be a Remaster or Remake, I hope they include this. The rest they should keep as is.
... but that's it. I would list some Pros and Cons, but there's just nohing to say except that I had a few laughs whenever something completely random happened again, but tbh it was a waste of time in it's entirety. There simply was nothing "intense" or "dramatic" about it. Just Sillyness, which I did enjoy a bit as well, but... no. Still a waste of time.
