Alright, I have a bit of bias because this may have been my first ever squad shooter, but hey, gotta start somewhere. Republic Commando tells a pretty good story, and it tells it well. I have a disc copy I picked up over a decade ago and I still play through it sometimes. Fair warning, while it has aged fairly well, it's not going to blow you away. The graphics are definitely last, last, last generation. However, they can still hold their own. Think more Half Life 2 than Quake. The game is fairly short, but that's not really a problem. It's mostly paced well, with decent challenges you'll need to bull through every now and again forcing you to make tradeoffs of equipment you want to keep for later versus stuff you can use right now to save you. The game introduces a pretty wide array of weapons as you play and it's easy to find a "favourite" piece of equipment. Republic Commando is still one of the best Squad Shooters I've ever played. It's one of the few games whose AI I actually trust to complete the game on their own. I guess that when there's no multiplayer campaign, there's no need to force your friends to buy the game too. Speaking of which, I hear there's a multiplayer mode or something? I have never touched it. TL;DR Get it, it's good. You'll have fun with the familiar but different Star Wars environments, top notch gunplay and memorable characters.
