Maybe I'm spoiled by other games but not being able to interact with objects and NPCs apart from the ones that are relevant to the plot make the world seem bleak and empty. UX issues take some getting used to. The gaming system is complicated and not well explained. I had to guess what character development would be the best. Apart from that the game was fun and I have to say it gets better near the end.
What makes it seem like a newer game?: - riding a mount - non-linear story (sorta) - enemy tactics - NPC life, chores, sleeping etc. What will annoy modern players (especially those younger than the game itself)?: - bouncing balls - graphics - non-skippable dialogue - slipping on solid rocks - completed missions showing as still active What makes it worth it?: - original setting - cool story - nice acting - decent humour - good pace I wanted to play it when it came out and I'm not disappointed after finishing it today
I've played the Necromancer so I got to enjoy some spells and summoning strategy. It eventually becomes tiring and repetetive. I would love to see a remake or a modern sequel, the idea is original and could prove to be extremely playable. Right now it's in a great game for Newgrounds' league
Don't get me wrong, the game is still fun, but it gets repetetive after a while and I just couldn't force myself to care about the story. I must admit though, It's definetetly smoother, easier and more user-friendly than Morrowind. Potato faces are great, don't know what people have against them.
