Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

Good Game, Bad Combat

It's a pretty good RPG - until it makes you do combat. It's just the usual X-COM stuff, but enemies are total bullet sponges even on easy. Where I'm at in the game, every humanoid enemy has fifty health, more for the physical races. Even if you have up to date weapons, that still means hitting them a lot, assuming you hit every shot. With the hit rates you get, that's not likely. But a lot of fights the enemy seems as hard-pressed to kill you as you are them, just making it more a slog than anything difficult. You can skip combat sometimes with the right perks or stats, which is more than Returns usually let you do, but there's still no getting away from it entirely, and virtually every mandatory mission I've had to do involves a fire fight at the end. I like all the characters and the setting, but having to waste time shooting grunts all the time is a drag. It seems odd to say the combat is the weakest part of an RPG, but that's what I've thought about both Shadowrun games so far.
