This game is fully packed of action with unlimited enemies coming at you for who knows reason ? All those nine guys, the characters we can play, have seriously annoyed someone very powerful and even more very crazy, far more than General Hux at his best ! The game is great, as usual you've got random powerups and weapons and you have to get the best of them to succeed. There is so many weapons you can define you're very own style, considering investing on a very few powerups can give a huge return on investment later in game, especially cooldown powerups combined with explosions & projectiles, even with "enemy spawn bullets on death" powerup, it create quite a self sustained nuclear fission style reactions among big packs of enemies, especially combined with "kill % of enemies with boss" powerup. It also remind me old Conway's Game of Life programs which was always amazing to watch. Lasers seems to be the least effective weapons but I didn't use them so much yet. The big enemies packs are like zombies pack and dodging them put you in the flesh of some The Walking Dead characters except we can't push them at all ! I give only 4 stars cause I'm not sure how long players would like to play it after unlocking everything and gather all achievements on GOG. But that's a typical issue with roguelite I guess, if there are not hard enough like Nuclear Throne (for me at least, I'm not very good at it but I like it a lot ! I played more than 200 hours), there is nothing more to do and to get so why keep playing ? Except if game is still fun to play just for the enjoyment of playing without expecting anything more.
- still as fun as it was 20 years ago, games like this (Quake2 for instance) were more focus on game-play than just visuals and sounds, - car designs and skin are great, - missions are the weak spot, not very fun, even boring, no actual briefing ( we often don't know where is what and the best course to be in time to reach the target), need to improve and do them multiple times to be on time, - map is pretty useless, as all cars have the same icon, genius idea ! - for a racing game, it's weird this is not about racing at all ! Who care to finish 1st, just destroy everything and everyone around you is enough, that's unfortunate, you could race for fun but there is not enough carrot to push you to do it, better to grab the stick and punish the others, who doesn't care much too, as they always go for you wherever you are. - physics are very... approximate and some cars are barely drivable like the wheel, rough terrain doesn't help, I guess it was ok back then, but now, a little bit of smoothing would have been welcome, as cars usually spin for no good reason, especially when we're short on time, on some joint between parts of terrain, - there are a few stability issues (one crash pretty clean, another one nasty game window stay opened and mouse cursor did not respond at all on window, impossible to kill trd2k process and have to reboot !) - after completing the game, and as there is no actual racing, game become a lot less fun despite having all the vehicles for free including police cars and non drivable ones like the tank
