Mortal Kombat 4

No comic book?

Runs fine. Doesn't include a scan of the promotional comic that was originally included with the PC release.

Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold

Runs perfectly with BstoneEven in linux.

Before that lying DINO POS Joseph LIEberman and his phony-balogna congressional LIES led to the official rating system, this was the first game I played that had a content warning. My parents wouldn't let us play Wolfenstein 3D, but had no problems with the gore here. Funny, innit? Anyway, if you're a compulsory wall-humper who strafes along every wall mashing the interact button to find every hidden area, Blake Stone will either be immensely satisfying, or frustrating and annoying. It's worse than the Aardwolf maze sometimes.

Quake

Free of Bethesda contamination.

For now. Get it quickly before they start demanding a bethesda.net account to play expansions here too.

Jill of the Jungle: The Complete Trilogy

In my top 5 of all time

The gorgeous music has stuck with me for decades, the visuals and environments were incredible back in the day, and still striking today, the sound effects were and are a case of 'what were they thinking?' but you quickly get used to them. The gameplay is kind of love-it-or-hate-it. Precise jumping and hitting things with the knives and not breaking the wrong blocks with the spinners might take practice. You go, Mr. Sweeney.

DOOM (1993)

DOOM (1993)

Try vanilla or with an updated engine.

I stick to Doomsday Engine for quake-like polygonal objects and monsters or gzdoom for an experience closer to the original with smoothed, higher-quality sprites and dynamic lighting. Brutal Doom is more of a fanservicy novelty, IMO.

STAR WARS™ Dark Forces (Classic, 1995)

Brings nostalgic tears to me eyes.

Glorious nostalgia, but hasn't aged well on it's own. If only the DarkXL project would update.
