Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive is a fantastic classic in the real-time tactics genre. The gameplay is smart, challenging, and rewarding — each mission feels like a handcrafted puzzle with multiple creative solutions. The characters are memorable, and the Western setting is atmospheric and full of charm. The story is simple — even a bit simplistic — but it leans into classic Western tropes so effectively that it feels more like a strength than a flaw. You'll find all the familiar elements: outlaws, ambushes, duels, and a showdown with a larger-than-life villain. It fits the genre like a glove. That said, there's one major issue: a serious performance bug causes the game to overheat modern systems, even when idle or in menus. It seems to max out CPU usage unnecessarily, and the problem becomes especially noticeable during the final mission: inferno, in the battle against El Diablo, where system temperatures can spike dramatically. In my case, it even froze my PC completely, since I didn’t notice the issue at first — after all, this is a 2D game from the early 2000s, and you wouldn’t expect it to push your hardware like that.
Excelente Juego para los que disfruten retos, les guste ponerse sus propias limitaciones y un gameplay clásico como Megaman o Castlevania. La duración del Juego es los suficiente para poder pasarlo varias veces sin que sea engorroso, por ejemplo yo me lo pase 4 veces y en dos de ellas no utilizaba en los jefes ni magias, ni matraces, pura espada, aumentando la adrenalina en estos combates. Tiene algunos bugs que entorpecen la experiencia y el acomodo de las zonas puede que te lleve a perder algunas escenas. La ambientación y el lore son soberbios, la música encaja a la perfección con el juego llegando a su culmen en los jefes y el doblaje en español es sublime, el pixel art es precioso que en un principio podría engañar el morbo por el gore pero lo que termina ganando es la solemnidad con la que retrata la religión. Una excelente experiencia pero para aquellos más pacientes, no es perfecto, pero se le ve el cariño en su desarrollo a borbotones y es lo suficientemente misterioso para atrapar a los mas curiosos.
