While the graphics are certainly a bit better than the original, the performance issues from the original have carried over to this release and have been amplified. The game is rife with constant loading stutters regardless of settings. I cannot recommend this at all in its current state. One would be better off playing the original which is quite a bit more manageable in terms of framerate. This poor performance in these modern remastered titles seems to be the rule, rather than the exception.
Title is really self explanatory. CDPR took a great game and turned it into a technical nightmare. Performance is actually worse than Cyberpunk. As for visual upgrades, the ray tracing is hardly noticeable at all except in shadows and reflections....mostly reflections. I think it's a visual downgrade compared to the original to be honest. I think free was too much to pay for the update.
I can't give the game a proper review at all. On Windows 11 it certainly works.....in short bursts. Nearly every 10 or so minutes it will crash to desktop without a warning. Regardless of which .exe you use (32bit or 64bit) it performs the same. I had to refund it after nearly 8 days of intensive troubleshooting on my end. It's simply more trouble than it is worth. I give it a 1 star because GOG continues to sell this broken game knowing that the experience is very hit and miss. I'm not a novice computer user or gamer and have had very few titles here that I couldn't get to perform amazingly well. This game is just a nightmare to play on a modern PC.
After nearly 11 years, what more can be said of this game? Well, actually quite a bit. We now have the addition of 74 pieces of amazing Creation Club content, additional quests, slight graphical overhauls and performance tweaks, and the ability to mod and use mods. This game was amazing in 2011 and still holds up in 2022. Even if you played the non-special edition, I recommend this purchase as it adds quality of life features such as fishing, farming, new residences, creatures, etc. Even at full price, this is a must have, epic collection In summary, this is a welcomed and long overdue addition to the GOG catalogue. Do yourself a favor and get it while the getting is good.
I wasn't expecting this at all. This game is epic in terms of graphics, music, gameplay, and replayability. I can't recommend it enough! Certainly worth your money even at full price. As an added bonus, there are no missing online features as those were discontinued by WB a few years ago.
All in all, this is a mediocre platformer geared towards the younger player. I could recommend it if it were not for the serious technical issues that plague every platform except Xbox. Jumping is somehow tied to framerate. Anything above 60 prevents the player from jumping. Even once you find a workaround for it, the game still suffers from severe stuttering and frame pacing issues. So, unless you like using several 3rd party apps to fix it in conjunction with having g-sync, avoid it at all costs. It is drastically overpriced for its content and capabilities. All in all, I'm going to have to call this a fail due to poor optimization. I also see that there have been no patches since release. Not cool. This is one of those bottom-barrel games you find in the discount bin at Wal-Mart.
