Resident Evil

Finally!

I've been real thirsty to get the original, unaltered (except to run on modern systems and controllers) original Resident Evil games. Works perfect with an Xbox controller, audio and graphics perfectly pixelated, and runs smoothly in the hour I've gotten to play it. It would be nice to have the directors cut version, but I'm not sure if that was originally ported to PC and I'd rather not have a bunch added to this. Since the original RE, I think they perfected the formula and (maybe with practice if your not tank control savvy) the controls work perfect.

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Amazing FPS

Between this and the last two Doom games, the best modern FPSs.

Rogue Legacy

Amazing

Amazing metroidvania and honestly one of the few of this genre that, to me at least, doesn't become tedious. Those complaining about difficulty and being unfair are some how not playing right. Out of all the rogue type games, this one is probably the most fair of all. Gameplay is great, highly recommend this.

DOOM 3

Great

I love GOG to purchase my games, but it feels like most reviews for games are so picky, including the review for Doom 3 BFG. I still remember getting Doom 3 on PC when it originally came out. The BFG edition is perfectly fine and there's no reason to have the vanilla doom 3 digitally. It'd be different if it was something like the resident evil remakes, then I'd understand having the original PC releases. Doom 3 itself is vastly different beast then the first two, filled with darkness, jump scares and a bit slower. While I like the new doom reboots, this still may be may favorite reboot of the originals. It's slower then a boomer shooter, but the combat isn't as slow as a tactical shooter. The weight of the weapons and the weapon sound effects are fantastic (the plasma gun firing is forever stuck in my brain). This game is still one of my favorites and on sale it's an even sweeter deal. Side note: Doom64 (which I believe is only on steam) is fantastic

Hedon Bloodrite

Pretty Great

First episode is pretty amazing. Levels are sprawling, guns are very effective and the atmosphere is engrossing. Story is bland/predictable and slows the game down in parts. The puzzles are pretty good, I didn't read notes in game and still found them to make sense. The usable items are helpful, potions etc, but alot sat unused. Honestly don't care about the half naked orcs, which had originally kept me away as it looked like some hentai FPS. Though using gzdoom it reminds of heretic/hexen and levels like Strife. People say levels are like thief but that seems reaching. The free episode is okay, it feels bloated with an abundance of things to do though. Plus a few episodes in a hub world is introduced, but meh. And a currency system is introduced? I'm making it through the levels fine, but I'm honestly not sure if I want to finish the free episode.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Ritual of the Meh

Love Symphony of the Night, but this game not so much. It starts off decent, but quickly becomes repetitive and really doesnt have it's own personality. There's nothing wrong with more of the same, but this lacks charm and I honestly didnt find it fun.

Cyberpunk 2077

Meh...

I've only played a few hours so far and honestly not really enjoying it. For one I'm not really liking the first person perspective, In my mind it feels like a 3rd person game. And holy crap is it slow (which may just be early in the game) but I just cant bring myself to enjoy it. I hadn't run into any real big bugs and the art and graphics are beautiful. Some people enjoy the driving, but to me it feels awful, to loose. The first hour in a game should really pull you in, like Uncharted 2, System Shock, Oblivion. I had purchased the newest Terminator game around the same time and, though a low budget straight forward affair, still had more fun with it. The only reason I MAY revisit it is because Keanu, which is unfortunate because how CDProjects Witcher 3 was amazing.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition

Boring Compared To The First

I'm not exactly sure why, but I'm not having fun with this one. I loved Original Sin 1, being one of the best RPGs. This one feels too similar to the first and feels waaaaay slower. I loved utilizing environmental effects, but now it feels more annoying then unique. I will give it another chance sometime.... just not now.

METAL GEAR SOLID

Classic!

Love this port of my favorite video game franchise! I appreciate it's a straight release of the initial PC release. Remakes can be great (like RE 2) but most of the times I still prefer the originals and am sad the original doesn't get a pc release (like RE 2). The graphics, though of the era, are smooth and this remains the most playable games after all this time. MGS1 and MGS2 are superb, bonkers stories you cant help but love.
