Necromunda: Hired Gun

Another mid 40k game

I feel like this game could have been so much more if Streum On had some people who could design gameplay better. As it stands, the game is good for about one playthrough (if you're particularly talented at FPS games probably less than an afternoon), and by the time it ends you've seen everything the game has before you've even reached the last story mission. Gameplay: The game is pretty much a series of fast paced arenas where enemies funnel in from pre designated spawns and you gun them down pretty much as quickly as they arrive, if you've played an FPS before, you've probably seen this. The enemy variety consists of mostly hapless grunts occasionally spiced up by guys with shields (of the physical and energy variety), along with a small selection of big guys like Ogryns and Ambulls. I could go into each Gang but honestly there's no point, the Gangs are essentially just reskins of said hapless grunts, and they all die within a second or two of being shot at if they don't have shields. You jump around and move pretty fast, but it all contributes to a lingering sense of "floatiness", like physics don't affect you like they do everyone else. You also get a selection of powers that once leveled up trivialize the game even further, allowing you to even one shot the big guys. You also have a Dog, but that may as well be another power since you call him in to get outlines over all the enemies and occasionally he'll eat one. Weapons: Despite having several 40k Weapons like Bolters, Plasma Guns, and Gravguns, the weapon roster just doesn't feel interesting. I found myself just gunning everyone down with an Autogun because it was just the easiest way to get through them all. Environments: Here, I think, is where most of the money went with this game, because the environment work is really good. You get a really good sense of scale of the Hive City with the massive Sprawl. Overall just great work. Story: Lol. Lmao even. Characters: See Above Get it on sale.
