Epic Tavern

A game full of potential and nasty bugs.

This game has SO much potential, but as of right now (Aug 30, 2018) there are MANY game-breaking bugs. However, assuming these are removed over time the game has many cool features: - Quests with a lot of interesting dialogue and lots of references for those who have played popular RPGs. (Also other pop-culture) - Before every new quest you have to consider an optimal party for the quest. The main-quest may require fighting for instance, but maybe the destination is far away. In that case you also need someone to negotiate with people you meet, someone to solve riddles and someone to disarm traps. - SO many funny encounters and odd ways of solving quests. You need to consider who to hire. The best composition is basically a balanced mix as the encounters are very different from one another. - Managing your tavern which will eventually have an infirmary, a temple, a wine cellar etc. You have to make sure everything is in stock and don't spent so much money on adventuring that your business takes a turn for the worse. Now for the bugs: - The prologue bugs out / freezes 50% of the time. - Dialogue-options disappear forcing you to restart the game. - Main-quests tend to fail often if you don't have 95% success (which is max). I have failed SO many times with 92% or 94% chance of success. - You sometimes get rewards for failed quests. And some completed quests offer no rewards even if this is implied through the text. - And a BIG one: If you level up a character and don't spent his/her new ability points before selecting another character the points just disappear! If you love min-maxing like me that means instant-restart. My overall recommendation: Do not buy as of now, unless you find the game REALLY interesting. Perhaps in about half a year (or maybe an entire year) I am sure most of the big issues have been fixed. When this is the case it will be an awesome game for some "causal questing". Do not expect HOMM - expect quality entertainment in small dosages. 4/5
