The game tries to be a better Baldur's Gate but fails becasue of mutiple bugs and poor UI (mostly in the kingdom management part). The journal and quests are also clumsy in many cases (e.g., you have to manually search for your objective on the map of the world). Some quest cannot be finished, description for some quests are so poor that you can complete them either by accident or by looking into the solution. Morevoer the game has EXTREMLY uneven difficulty level - some encounters are almost impossible to win (fortunately you can lower difficulty) especially when the game forces your main character to go somewhere alone (my character was a mage so I on low level even a band of cobolds is a overkill). Besides you can stumble upon a creature you just cannot kill in random encounter at the very begining of the game. It becomes a bit better balanced once you characters gain power and stop dying from one hit, but still some fights are just poorly balanced. There are also some poor design choices like having to cross some maps mutiple times which just takes a lot of time. Some quest and dialogues are fun to play, some of the NPC are good to, but this does not compensate for the bad things. Besides that, after tha last "patch" all of my saves just stopped loading (the game crashes) and I have ca. 70% progress in the main quest :-) It would more sense to play BG 1 & BG 2 once again instead of investing into this game.
