I like these old games and although the art work and graphics are very dynamic this game is not fun to play at all. No map system to tell you were you are going, nothing to tell you want anything does. Nothing feels intitive at all, you are just wandering around picking items up not knowing if you need them or not. Combat is horrible as well as you can't ever get a grip on how to actually hurt enemies, sometimes they go down with just a couple of hits and other times you miss over and over again only hitting ever once in a while. The music is not bad at first but their is very little varity and it gets old really fast. This game aged like Edward Furlong.
Did you ever want a WH game that feels like the table top game. This is pretty much it. Straight forward and simple gameplay.
Don't let the title fool you. I like this game, it is mindless fun. The combat is fast and brutal. The guns are a lot of fun to fire and enemies die with satisfying violence. I played this game back on the xbox 360 so this is my second playthrough on the PC. The problem with this game is that as usual with Warhammer games the story is vanilla and follows all they same tropes as their other game stories do, no female lead, no humor and takes itself way to seriously. You are fighting the bad guys, the inquistion gets involved so something isn't as it seems, rinse repeat. Another issues is that on most 2nd playthroughs that I go through there are parts that I can't wait to go through again but with this playthrough I realized that there was nothing that I could recall about the levels as they are so... bland. Grey, war torn structures or you are on the inside of said buildings that are dull grey warehouses with pipes running all up and down the walls and ceilings. However with its flaws I still enjoy it with all its hyper violence and boring level design.
So just to tell you I got this game for like 2 dollars on sale and I would say it was well worth the money. I would have purchased it for 5 bucks but no more. Its John Woo style of gun play is fun and challanging. The gun play feels very over the top and cinematic. Shotguns sends sparks and papers flying everywhere. Very viseral. Enjoyed and recommended if you need short bursts of gameplay.
Enjoyed the game for what it was. It was weird and I like weird however like with other pit falls of the point and click genre Sanitarium falls into all the same traps of not being clear on what the objective is. you can't free scroll around the area so parts of the map on where you are supposed to go are hidden from view and items that are required to finish areas can be easily missed so you end up spending a ridiculous amounts of time going pixel by pixel with your mouse to find things that should be clearer to see. I did enjoy this game even though point and clicks aren't my forte. This game is for die hard point and click fans only though.
I love hide and seek horror games. Remothered is that kind of game but even for a hide and seek game the game moves way to slow. Regardless if you are crouching or walking the character movement is just way to slow. It is also hard to hear where the enemy is. The sound of the enemy does properly translate to the proximity of their whereabouts as you can hear them on other floors for some reason and you end up hiding for no reason wasting time. There are good things. The house design and graphics are nice, there is no map system but it is easy to memorize where everything is. The game does create good tension and there is good atmosphere. I picked up this game for 2 dollars on a sale. I feel like it is worth a full playthrough at that price.
First the good, the pixel art and animation is outstanding. The lighting and colors, everything is top notch. The killing enemies has a satisfying feeling and there is a fair bit of difficulty to it but it is a fair challenge. Unfortunately this game does not equal the sum of its parts. Although the art direction is excellent character design is a cookie cutter anime girl in a school girl outfit with busty villains which has been done to death so much it is boring to no end. The music is completely forgettable and the game does not encourage you to use its many weapons and of course the game is way too short for what they are charging. I am ok with a short game but the price has got to match. Its full price as of this writing is about 20 USD it is worth playing at about 7 USD so wait for a sale and you will feel better about your purchase.
I will say this right off the bat... I am terrible at point and click games although I do find them fun. Stasis was a very good experience even if I did have to look up a walk through here and there because I got stuck. One of the most important things in horror games is the atmosphere and Stasis as that in spades. With a good story and soundtrack I would recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of horror games in general. If you are not good at point and click games there is always a walk through and I know that might be heresy to some gamers but I would like fans of horror games to see what this game has to offer. Gets a big thumbs up.
