This is a pretty good first attempt for a studio -- the lore/world is very compelling but the combat is very janky and mediocre. Of course, it's realistic but that doesn't really make it fun for some players. So I would advise people to check out gameplay of the combat and if it seems fun to you, big recommend to try it.
It started off pretty fun -- I like the vibe/tone of everything. But the reality is that the combination of insanely long load times and I think over 13 crashes now in the first two hours is just too much to enjoy the game. I have a 6k computer that is pretty much an extreme rig, but it's still having problems. It's hard to complain about a free game and I appreciate the effort of the team, but unfortunately for me it's just impossible to get immersed and in a groove if you crash every 10 minutes, and you fear getting into combat (three crashes), or opening any door to load inside/outside (most of the crashes). The last straw was barely surviving a pretty hectic/long fight with about fifteen guys and then right at the end the game froze/crashed on me and I lost all that progress. I'm not super technical about checking for fixes and solutions online so unfortunately for someone like me, I'll have to move on. I do think it looks very promising even in the first hour narratively.
I've rarely ever wanted to put a bad review, but this one and only time I have to because I can't play it at all. I just keep loading the prison start scene and the game just...stops. The first time my entire computer crashed...ok, I turned the graphics down. Hard reboot...tried again. Second try...jammed on a stuck screen with an inability to even exit game, etc. Reset everything, downgraded graphics, check everything I could, closed everything else on my computer. Third time, I get to the prison scene a third time, and it just...stops again. I'm at a loss. I have a 128 GB, RTX 3090/AMD 5950X and I've just given up. It looks really good though...maybe I'll play it someday...but I think I have no choice but to just return it.
