Caesar 3

How to frustrate a 10 year old

One of the most memorable strategy game I ever played. Complex, deep, games that lasted for hundred of hours, this city builder made so many week ends fly by as your cities burns, posper through trade with the roman empire, fall to riots or enemies or because you are simply fired by the emperor for spending to much. The manual that came with it was the size of a novel, and I still have it. The graphics may look a bit old now, but the depth of it still make me come back to it., 15 years later.

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War

Dumbed down Deus Ex.

Deus Ex is still today my favorite game of all time. Invisible War had big shoes to fill, and it didn't fill anything, except the disappointment of fans. Invisible War is not a bad game at its core, it is actually quite good. But what made Deus Ex unique was gone : nearly every RPG elements are out ( body parts, inventory space, points to allow, different munitions ...). All that remains is a dumbed down version of Deus Ex on consoles (it is one of the game I kept with my xbox). A shame. The story line remains quite good, with a lot of different approaches and possibilities, and it still has this intelligent side to it. The soundtrack by Alex Brandon is to my opinion the only part where Invisible War is superior to his big brother.

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Legendary game

One of the first (and only) game to successfully mix a FPS with RPG elements. It allows the player to build the character that he/she wants, and it also have intelligent and philosophical questions at its core. This long game can also be replayed a number of times to see all the different possibilities. Dark, dystopian, cyberpunk, with a great level design and an awesome scenario, Deus Ex is an unforgettable experience.
