It's not completely fixed yet, still has a few things wrong with it since the 1.1 update like no more Monoliths, no Planet scanner options to find them anymore. I'm not sure why they removed them. The base building stuff is okay.. I have made a few modifications, so I can place base parts anywhere, I was NO FAN of that tiny default base size.. Now, if I could mod the limits for the specialization hubs... I'd like to not have any limits, as I'd like to MOD in the ability to have multiple bases... See, that's what's gonna save this game, the modding community! I feel really sorry for the PS4 crowd, they can't MOD anything.. Is this game worth buying at the moment? I'm not sure, but like I mentioned before you've missed out on what I thought was some core gameplay... without the monoliths how do the players learn words? There are the tiny cylinders that have the glowing circle that still pop out words but they are even really hard to find now.. If you're on the fence about No Man's Sky.... Maybe wait for the 1.5 or 2.0 update (if they make it) I think those updates will be much bigger, certainly the 2.0, 3.0 and so on... What really let me down as a HUGE FAN of this game, was the fact that Hello Games dropped off the face of the Earth for a few months, all except for that disgruntled employee twitter hack message... there was NOTHING coming out of that studio, sort of a Willy Wonka effect (the original) nothing goes in nothing comes out.. To all of a sudden have this 1.1 update then some minor patches a few days later is crazy.. I was just beginning to think this game was dead.. I even emailed Hello Games, just to see if they were still alive.. then 2 days later 1.1 update was out... Your welcome?? LOL.. On my 8 core 8350 CPU & GTX 970 this game DOES lag sometimes, but I just used the nvidia optimizer it's running a little better.. It's better than Launch day, but still does need some work pop in's aren't as bad as they were.. But, Give this game another YEAR.
A few bugs still linger, patrons get stuck in weird places, no way to move them to a clear path. other than that I love this game. I enjoy SANDBOX Mode the most, the economic part of this game sucks, and is very buggy too.. I would like to give this game 5 stars but I have to stay w/ 3 at this time. GOG is awesome for finally getting it though.. ITS ABOUT TIME.
But I Have seen enough LP videos to see it is pretty awesome.
But both have my attention equally, I just bought them both. maybe they should be in a buy both for 50% off, idk.. but either way, Pop2 is Much better than the JOKE of a game, Pop; the beginning.. that game was more flash than playability.. I'll stick to the classics from now on.. THANKS Gog.com for finally making my day by uploading these two classics (pop1,Pop2)
Its a Great game, difficult but rewarding.. Also, changing the txt document to Give money instead of costing is great. A simple Must buy.. I spent many hours on this game as a kid.. I'm 31 now and still enjoy playing this game, so glad GOG has it..
For finally putting this CLASSIC up w/ it's sequel Pop 2.. This was an impossible to find title.. I lost the Floppy disk a decade ago, thought I would never get to play it again.. When i can i will totally buy this 2 games.. Just got a kindle fire and had a few credit cards paid off.. GOG.com really is the best source for games that I really love.. This game was difficult to play, but was so cool to see little people walk around, given the limited technology they had on computers back then.. I think this one was originally on a 486 intel.. thats 486 Mhz... Dirt slow by today's standards but those were good pc's even with 16 MB's ram..
I played the Original Sim City, but it wasn't nearly as good as SC2.. This is the Old School Dos version So there isn't many cheats for it "torg" without the quotes.. but eventually you'll get all the rewards anyways so no need to cheat for them.. this Money cheat is just nice, I gave myself $15 mill.. That is what a real city uses in a year not $20k.. The whole game plays just as it did 20 years ago.. I was 11 when it came out.. Hard to believe next year will bring a TRUE sequel to the series.. Sim City Societies was a REAL BAD JOKE. I can't wait for SIM CITY in 2013.. They are axing the 5.. dunno why.. Anyways, if your a TRUE Maxis FAN.. Buy this game TODAY... Don't think about it.. DO IT..
I don't understand this game at all.. first of all its NOT full screen.. then worst of all is the fact NOTHING was making the game select START GAME... I had to CTL+ALT+DEL just to shut this game off.... THX GOG.com for giving away a crappy game... maybe SimCITY 2000 SE next time????
