ELEX II

An incomplete downgrade from Elex

Piranha Bytes have effectively abandoned Elex 2 before they resolved any of it's glaring issues. There are some promising combat and QoL changes that made this game promising, however, the performance issues combined with the massive downgrade in human models and the horrid camera make this a pass. PB have basically admitted they're done supporting this game, it's not worth bothering with unless the community fixes it. And it's too broken to draw enough of the community to bother. RIP PB

Cult of the Lamb

Wont even launch

Getting the crash right after intial splash screen and have tried several workarounds. This wont even launch. Refunded, we'll see if it's worth checking out once it's stable and hype dies down

Control Ultimate Edition

Fun atmospheric power shooter

I loved the dark otherwordly atmosphere created by the game, if you loved Alan Wake there are quite a few allusions to Bright Falls that you can find. It feels very "The Secret World"-y The powers are decent but I found myself primarily using Launch, in-fighting with Shield and Melee didn't feel viable at all. Grip is the most versatile of all the guns, follwed by Shatter and Pierce for crowd work and bosses. The other guns don't feel as good. Mods can be a grind and I didn't like that aspect at all, it also invalidates crafting. Why use up resources when you can just grind? Also, why craft mods when you need those same resources to upgrade the weapons. Overall I liked and highly recommend the game, I'd give it a 5/5 but I experienced consistent CTD's during the last third of the game.

She Sees Red - Interactive Movie

Short yet impactful live action game

She sees Red is full of cool Choose your Action moments and each of the four endings are different enough to give you a more full scope of the story each time you play. We played it as a party game the first time through and it was a hit, ended up going through it a few more times to unlock all the scenes as well. The only suggestion I'd have is to have an option to rewind to decision points after you've already beat the game once since many paths can end up at the same ending without unlocking a new scene. Recommended at full price to support the devs, an easy buy on sale.

Cyberpunk 2077

This is EuroJank. Very good EuroJank.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game, not a great game, but good. And that's with factoring in all the bugs. The story exists and stands on its own but falls short of being memorable or thought provoking. It's just a story, and that's okay. PC controls are horrible, most keys are not remappable and finding them comes down to assuming that "j" is for journal and "i" will open up your inventory. Then there's the mouse acceleration that you can't turn off. The RPG abilities are mediocre and play more like skill flavoring than anything very playstyle defining. The decision to make equipment looter/shooter was an interesting choice. It's much less like Division 2 and much more like Borderlands 1 + weapon mods that do not clearly state what they can be used on and don't heavily impact the weapon performance. Crafting is useless. Driving is a core mechanic of the game and is the weakest part of its mechanics. Use a controller to drive if you have the choice. Too many bugs to list, I'd take away a star and a half if I could. You could almost believe this was a Bethesda launch. The stars here are the characters, voice acting, and the vibrancy of Night City. CP2077 doesnt play like a game that has been 8 years in development.
