Waiting for many years for this, I became somewhat hyped and have to say ... now that I've actually played the remake, I'm somewhat disappointed. There are quite some good ideas, like the lengthy prologue and other nice nifty details, but in many regards, this remake feels a bit *too* nostalgic for me. The textures look crappy, various enemies, especially the mutants, are made too alike. More variety in the looks, maybe even in the behaviour and combat style would have been nice. The still manual inventory sorting is just annoying these days. Also missing quite a few nice music pieces from back then, and all in all, I have to say ... I'm not sure this is worth about 40 Euros. More like 20, especially regarding the fact the developers didn't have to come up with a story. I respect such companies, but this is ... I don't know, doesn't really feel like a true remake, more like a step towards a true remake / remaster.

I got this as pre-order (PC) and have only had one truly negative experience, which was when the Delamain questline became garbled up for me by doing the "wrong" Delamain sub-mission first. This was in December 2020 when the game got out. I don't really play GTA - I own all of those games, but could never be charmed by any of them. Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, definitely is for me. I really like the details, the characters, the huge city with all its predictions of the (alternative dystopian) future. I think it's really well done, and I play computer games since about 35 years, so I can see the sheer amount of work having gone into this, and I appreciate it for that alone. This game is a new world and therefore, also kind of an experiment to the developers. Bugs are expected, given the size of everything, and I truly believe you can't just compare this to the quality of the Witcher 3 or GTA V, because this game is still being fleshed-out, and it probably will be for quite some time yet. Also, whenever I read other reviews about this game being so incredibly bad, I wonder how pampered some people seem to have become, expecting absolute perfection from others right away, even given the amount of details and sheer work having gone into something. I think this in any case should be respected, and the game will become far greater over time still, as CDPR is still one of the *few* companies caring about its customers, from what I can see. This is one of those few games that makes me marvel. Thank you, CDPR, for this.
