...and it's still fantastic. The game was revolutionary back then (talking LoL 1) and it always had a special place in my heart. Today it still feels like playing your first dungeons and dragons session and while certain aspects aged badly, it comes with the .pdf of the solution booklet to make it fairly easy for everyone to get into it. I cannot phrase this differently: The game is a living time capsule and holds up remarkably well for what it was back then and it's one of the few "must plays" for me. It's influence was that immense, that it's still considered to be the parent the entire "grid based" and "crawler" bundle like grimrock or starcrawlers, because while other games of similar design might've been earlier, Lands of Lore was absolutely topnotch. Allow yourself to experience this with an open mind, and I swear you probably gonna like it, if you won't love it. It's so much easier to get into than other games like the bard's tale series and this game seriously deserves some love, for the effort and art alone. I promise you, even if it ain't your cup of tea, it has a charm that I find seriously lacking in most modern games. Check it out, at least you can love at the stuff we old people played back in the day :)

Man, I replay this regularly and everytime it's still a goddamn ride. Sure, some aspects of the game might not appeal to modern audiences anymore and there are certain design choices that have been retired for good reason, but altogether, without putting my nostalgia glasses on, this game is as close to perfect as you can get for the time in which it was conceived. The GOG version has all the extras like the booklet so the most tedious aspect of the game is a thing of the past. Seriously, if you have a few bucks lying around, get this, I can promise you, if you like dungeoncrawlers and RPGs, this will not disappoint you! Thank you GOG for resurrecting this timeless classic!

Lots of broken promises and way too many bugs, even years after release with a new DLC being thrown out there. That being said, the game is good and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Just not what they originally promised.

But sadly, isn't. Finally got to install it and jump in. After a brief absolut "WOW!"-Moment that wears off about 4 hours into the game, there's so much avoidable, horrible design choices and bugs here, that take away from an anjoyable game. The Good: Superb storytelling and worldbuilding. It doesn't feel like Night City, it IS Night City, they gave it life! And I mean from the way the city moves and breathes and sounds. Sound design is rad as well. The Bad: Yeah, that's right, there's no saving graces here, except the great feel of the city. The controls are backwards AF, the bugs are UNREAL in a game that's been out for so long, e.g. half the stuff not working as described, some stuff doesn't work from the start, disappearing weapons, etc. And it is littered with horrible design choices, like the scanning/hacking controls, the menu in general, and pretty much every aspect of this game. Horrible to see this sad state of a game. When googling about certain issues it's quickly revealed, that a lot of these things are known for years... Sorry, CDPR, but this game is NOT a good advertisement for you. It's half-baked, horribly designed, bug riddled and a lot of things are poorly or not explained, like the scaling of cyberware weapons. There's so much that shouldn't be as bad as it is in the first place, let alone in this state after sooo much time. Seriously, I barely touched the base game, and I already know I will never buy a DLC, because there are so many core issues in terms of design alone, that no DLC will fix this. Sad, I wanted this to be great.

Bought this game on steam. It got banned on steam. Now the devs are stonewalling anybody who bought the game on steam and demand either a refund or the version on GOG for free, since you can't get updates or the promised DLC. And the state in which the game was left is essentially breaking it for 50% of people. So yeah, just so you know whom you buying from. The game is OK, the devs certainly not, and I'd strongly urge you to reconsider buying from them. And no, I don't care if it's steam's fault or not. Not the point. Their unwillingness to provide information or a sultion however IS the point. Make of that what you will.

Pretty much instantly my favourite game of the last decade. Movement feels amazing, responsive and rewarding once you get the timings right. Some people complain about this game not really being a metroidvania, and I see how they reached that argument, but I think it's just taking a different approach and hence is not exactly and clearly similar to what most people would file under the term. It does have metroidvanian elements, but I would say it is definitely an action platformer first and a metroidvania second, and it is pretty clear that it doesn't really aspire to be the latter. Long story short, if you are looking for a classic metroidvania, this might not be all too well suited for you. Think of it more like mega-man or shovel knight, where the emphasis is movement, platforming and becoming good with the controls. And it feels really good if you get good. Also featuring a banger soundtrack, great humour, and fantastic art! Also, you get a lot of bang for your buck! Plus, if you tend to be a person like me, that rather replays a fantastic game than play some half-backed garbage to satisfy an itch, then this game is definitely for you. This game scratches that mega-man/shovel knight itch and without realising leaves one for itself which you will feel regularly. The game is so amazing, it regularly drags me away from other games (which are also good), because this game is just so well done. Difficulty is not really an issue. In general, bosses are too easy if you replay the game, but they at least provide an adequate challenge, mostly, for first time players. 100% recommendation, hands down, only the caveat above for metroidvania-seekers. Makes grandfather Ninji proud.

The writing is witty and fun, the game doesn't take itself seriously, without being a totally forced "look how funny I am" experience, e.g. like in Deponia. The riddles so far are rather on the easy side, but as a fan of the Cthulhu Mythos, I love the way this game makes fun of it and how it breakes the fourth wall. Easily one of the best point and clicks I have ever played, both recently and in my youth. I had one single crash so far, but given that the game saves pretty much every time you pick up, combine or alter an item, I lost no progress whatsoever, so I wouldn't say these are "technical difficulties", seemed like a fluke. Kudos on an amazing game, that tickles my nostalgia happy spot, but does so without giving itself up, it can stand alone and yet takes me back to the feel I had when playing Broken Sword for the first time. I can strongly recommend that if you like point and click adventures, or if you want to find out if you do, you pick up this gem, regardless if you are a cthulhu or RPG buff, although, to be fair, you will probably not get the same enjoyment out of it, if you aren't.
