Othercide

Materpiece

I own this game on different platform, but title is so great, that I must write comment here also :) Masterpiece. I bouht this game after seeing few screens. And it was one of best purchases ever! Atmosphere, graphic, story! It is all brilliant in dark, nihilistic way. Pros: Graphic - 10/10 It's not simple game graphic, it's piece of art! Black and white sceneries, detailed elements, all in decay and shattering climate. I saw mirrored texts on remaining of shop window - detail, but so much anchored in this world. Of course, we have also red - daughters have ribbons, and blood. Characters are made great also. Daughters are detailed and different (algorithm I pressume), monsters looks like ripped from worst nightmare. Music - 10/10 What a great tracks are there! I am lisening to this album in free time from first day of playing Othercide :) This is dark music, very dark, with metal, ambient themes. Othercide without this soundtrack would lack much. Main theme Soulswap is so deep, so emotional... Writing - 10/10 Pain, suffering, tears, losing, written is great gothic climate. It reminds me Vampire:Masquerade at begginings, but much better. Story, shattered in many pieces collected in game is one of best in games I ever saw. Polish translation is also great! Mechanical stuff - 9/10 Why not 10? Because sometimes I cannot scroll map. And thats all what I have against :) This is typical tactical combat with action points. You have skills, different characters, skill tree, addidtional upgrades, perks gained in missions, unique sacrifice mechanic and repeating "levels" called evocation. You failed? Don't worry, start from beggining, but with more upgrades (if you managed to earn them).

Project Warlock

Brilliant retro game!

I am not a big fan of fps, but also, I am old and nostalgious :) So - game being something lookalike to Hexen or Heretic was promising. My feelings was accurate - P:W is great retro clone, but polished to every detail. Pros: - many levels, with quite nice design. But game is fast, and levels are not big as in Hexen or Heretic. They also mostly flat (but elevators are present). - large bestiary - every of five worlds has unique monsters. Beasts are climatic, and good optimalized. - great weaponry - many guns, each can be upgraded to one of two versions - spells - not many, but useful - character leveling - something new to retro genre, but it's nice addition - graphics! - retro feeling 120%, you can even add filters to simulate CRT monitor or C64 pallete and shaders. Absolutly briliant! - music and sfx - very ok Cons: - some levels are hard to beat for casual like me. Especially final boss. - levels should be made larger, not cut into smaller maps For prile like that - very good choice :)

Bombshell

Not polished enough.

For first minutes of play - game looks nice. Good graphic, sounds (except voices), items, weapons. But as far I play - my feelings gets worse. I have medium hardware, but game lagging. Even dropping settings didn't helped much. But worst thing is how camera works on later levels, and how character responding to mouse and keyboard. No, game should be much more polished in control, before put into a store.
