The Original Fallout began one of gaming's best series. The game starts you out in your vault where you are called to the overseers office and sent out into the wastelands on a mission to save your vault from certain doom. You begin with a pistol a few bullets and a lot of hope. You must choose given a limited amount of points where to place your strengths ....will it be strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, or Luck (also known as your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. sklls). Your choices there will determine what type of character you play. Do you go for the juggernaut with low intelligence or the Agile and Perceptive Rogue? Maybe you go for a combination all your own, its completely up to you. The music is at times eerie and unsettling but it takes you to that wasteland and makes you feel as though you are really there. I am not a big puzzle solver so I was happy that the few puzzles that are in the game are not too difficult. Your Pipboy allows you to customize the game, view your inventory, take stimpacks(healing packs) and other vital actions to the game. You are able to choose real time or turn based combat and so your game can be tailored to your play style. The map is huge and exploring is vital to your survival, but be careful ..there are places you most definitely do not want to find yourself until you are ready. You are able to utilize companions in this game as well to assist you in your journey. They are helpful if you are carrying too much weight as well. For those that have played on in the series, its wonderful to see the NCR's beginnings and to actually become the legendary vault dweller. I would highly recommend this classic for anyone just starting out. I would also recommend it for those that have a bit of experience under their belts with this type of game because there is no other game like it.
