Not a bad Metroidvania if given a chance

I'll admit I scoffed at the front page when I first saw this release. I figured it was just Hunie Pop for furries or something and moved on. When a certain Youtuber (you know the one) gave it a recommendation I thought it over and decided to give it a try. I've been wrong before with judging books by their cover and had good experiences after the fact, so I decided to impartially review this based on mechanics over anything 'fetish-y.' I've played about two hours so far, and it's overall been a fun experience! The platforming is good, and I'm enjoying the promise of the Metroidvania elements (my pet genre) as I'm gaining new powers. I think the fat/mana mechanic deserves a mention especially. I have to say that the core game design is actually really well executed. Everything ties back to your capacity in this game. Eating downed foes allows you to do a multitude of things, including storing the weight to increase your physical attack power at the cost of some mobility, digesting your stores to regain health and acquire experience for a tech tree, or breathing fireballs as long range projectiles. In addition, this mechanic can be exploited by your enemies, as certain enemies (such as slimes) cannot be digested that I can see so far. You can spit them out as projectiles at enemies, but if you get swarmed and go past your carry weight, it's game over (with a comical pop.) Overall I'd say this is worth checking out if you enjoy Metroidvanias, but you're looking for a unique twist on the typical formula (or if I suppose this game has your 'thing') I wouldn't say this will enjoy the same popularity as Helltaker in terms of being an indie hit due to the particular niche it fills, but it is inspiring to see a group who enjoys something unusual and decides to put their other talents into creating a good game out of it.
