The Nations Gold Edition

Unplayable due to technical errors

Great game, but I am reviewing the GOG version sold on here. I cannot get it to run on Windows 10. Compared to the predecessor Alien Nations (die Völker 1), which works and is available in multiple languages, die Völker 2 (The Nations) is not playable at all on my windows 10 computer. I can only see the menu (in English). Once I try to start/load a game, I just get a black screen. Also the cursor is doing some funny stuff in the menu. Not used to this from GOG. I specifically have re-bought countless old games on here, since they are playable, when my old disc versions are useless. Well, not so in this case. DO NOT BUY, you will not be able to play!

Snowtopia: Ski Resort Builder

Definitely still in Early Access

Generally a pretty fun game manager/tycoon game concept with cute-ish "comic- graphics. A lot of things already work fine and I have played about 6h. Three big draw-backs that everyone should be aware of at this time and why I am saying this is definitely still in Early Access: 1. The previously described pathfinding bug of skiers skiing in circles is still prevalent. Restarting did not work for me, in my case it was usually a service building that caused the skiiers to go mental. Once demolished they all went on their merry ways. 2. Lift-Building problems: Slope/Gradient too steep. I specifically did all the research for lifts and had the options for smaller gondolas to go further, steeper and higher with my lifts. Unfortunately this system is broken. I can hardly build any gondolas, every time something is too steep. Funnily enough, I often times, can put a chair lift in the exact spots I wanted to build the gondolas... (Keep in my Gondolas allow steeper gradients [in theory!]). So the whole system of gradients and angles for steepness is broken, or at least not working properly. Makes it hard to reach to top of the mountains.... Also the base stations for lifts require too much flat space; kinda makes it hard to have back-to-back-lifts in the mountains. 3. While I do enjoy a good mostly-text-based eco-sim/tycoon game, I was really annoyed by the fact that I can see skiers and I can build buildings for Search/Rescue, Lift-Maintenance and Piste Maintenance, but I do NOT get to see any of those people leave their buildings to tend to their tasks. Whats the point of building all these buildings and not seeing the people in them go out on the slopes to do their things?! I was surprised how much this, rather cosmetic thing, bothered me. Minor draw-back: - Red notifications (left top corner) stay there forever. Even if all my pistes are at 100%, I apparently still have to do maintenance on 6 of them....
