Clive Barker's Undying is in one word: atmospheric. It is, in my opinion, what makes it stand out from other shooters. It is dark, foreboding, decadent, with hints of Lovecraftian horror and echoes of the best Victoriana. By no means perfect, but it really manages to stand on its own and for that alone it is worth playing
There is not much to add that hasn't been said before. It is the original, the one that started it all and, as someone who discovered it in 1997 and has played it more times that I can count. It still holds up. The character work is laughable - but charming- but what sets Resident Evil apart is the mood, the music, the lore (what a great antagonist in Umbrella) and the zombies. It is arguably one of the cornerstones of the Zombie genre second only to George A.Romero's films and for that alone a must-have.
Carmaggedon is pure 90s cheesy goodness. A car game that dials up the gore, the carnage and the ultraviolence to deliver an entertaining racing game. The maps are huge and very creative and the gameplay is, for the most part functional - although by no means perfect, getting a hang on the car takes some getting used to -. A great game with nostalgia colored glasses, and a curiosity for the unfamiliar.
