Blade of Darkness

Worthy GOG that has aged well.

Excellent game and worthy addition to the catalogue. The retail version was difficult to maintain on modern OSs for a while, but we should not forget that the game has now been community patched to work without problems, and the software released free of charge for several years now. Gameplay holds up. Soundtrack is atmospheric with a set of motifs that come in at the right time. Graphics are sharp. Controls are tight. The people who say that it has aged badly are of course out of their minds.

Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel

Hexen on steroids

Level complexity turned to eleven. Enemy numbers (and difficulty) through the roof. Items more numerous. Mana more plentiful. Hexen already innovated on idtech and there are more neat tricks to be found here. Completed at second-hardest difficulty in 7.8 hours.

Freedom Fighters

Masterpiece soundtrack finally available

Back when IO were still taking chances. The old Glacier engine is obviously at work, and does so smoothly. The game is a classic, somewhat repetitive at times. Jesper Kyd truly shines, his progression from Hitman 2 to Contracts is hinted at here. The soundtrack has been exceptionally difficult to secure for a long time; very glad to see it released in a lossless format.
