It could have been a master piece. Unfortunately many small glitches and bugs can spoil a bit the experience, but if you save often you should be ok. Also, of course it's an old game, so the gameplay can be dated, but the graphic have aged very nicely. Fights and puzzles can also appear a bit repetitive. Still if you like good stories, and RPG with a soul, it's a very good old game that I found very addictive. Beside of the story, the music is awesome. Specially the song in the Arsenal tavern. For all these reasons Venetica has become one of my favourite games. Thank you GOG and Deck13. Note pour les francophones : allez faire un tour sur le forum du jeu, damien_ y a posté un lien pour avoir les dialogues en français.
If you know what the action movie industry owns to John Woo, if you're into his movies, then this is a must have. Basically you play Chow Yun-Fat/Tequilla and you kill every one with style like in a Hong Kong movie. And if you're an hardcore fan, the first time you meet the bartender should put a big smile on your face. The game is supposed to be played with keyboard + mouse which I find pretty hard and not adapted for this game. There is no gamepad support at all. Despite my love for the game, I was to ask a refound, when I dig the forum dedicated to the game. Someone came up with a functionnal solution : thanks to a soft called antimicro, you can actually use a gamepad with the game. It may be not perfect, but much better than the combo kb+mouse.
Despite some great SF ideas, the story is in fact very lame. Very frustrating as it could have easily been one of the best scenario ever. But templars being evil and Assassins being the good guys, seriously ? Very frustrating to see such a rich historical material being completely destroyed despite the studio claims of its international story team of reviwers that is supposed to give some serious credits. In this episode, missions are very repetitive and can become fast very boring. Glad I have experienced. The only cool feature is the architecture of the cities. It's always great to climb on those awesome buildings and have a look of the view. Sure it's beautiful, but sadly it is not enough.
