But don't. Land. Move slowly and with the worst initial weapon in any game ever. Open door, Move slowly. Kill some strog. Get a better weapon. Open door, Move slowly. Kill some strog. Get another weapon. Open door, Move slowly. Kill some strog. Find a switch. Kill some strog. I really enjoyed Quake 2, but I'm having a hard time continuing with this.
I enjoyed the game for the most part, though I lost patience and cheated part way through. The initial sniper parts were great and the graphics are impressive enough. Switching to the team equipped with the assault rifle, supplied with amazingly innacurate sights, while the enemy can hit you from across the map, was less enjoyable. As a sniper on a tower, getting nailed to the spot by too many highly accurate shots made me realise I'd stopped having fun and so I employed a cheat for the rest of the game. I enjoyed the rest of the game without the sudden difficulty spikes. The two exceptions were mr shouty on the radio during the DLC, when you have the nerve to move through unauthorised cover and the fact that occasionally, enemies needed to be despatched in order, or not despatched at all, with little indication as to which. TL:DR Good enough, but with some reservations.
The game has some truly amazing moments and incredible atmosphere, especially the D-DAY landing sequence. However, it also has some big failings, such as it's poor draw distance. I ended up deleting the game after failing miserably in the street battle, where enemy snipers would quickly kill you, before they were visible or had even been rendered on the screen. Kudos to those with the patience to get past that level, but it became too much of a chore to continue without enjoying it.
