This game is really hard, but if you save often, like every room and follow a guide you can beat it. It's not the NES version of the game its the MSX2 version.
So the problem with the game if you are going to play single player is it was designed to eat quarters at an arcade. The CPU does input reading. So it reacts before your move triggers. It is beatable. There are several videos on youtube where you can watch people beat it by cheesing the computer in various ways. The Super nintendo or Genesis ports in the day were beatable just playing the game and being good at it. They should have emulated one of those ports instead of the arcade. Most ported arcade games have this problem. That being said. If you have a friend or two who want to play vs. and to have some fun, it's ok for that.
This is an arcade port. It's good for multiplayer, but requires a fair amount of cheese to beat the game.
