Sorry to say but the game doesn't work. When I try to run it I get black screen with "press ESC to skip" and nothing else. When I disable intro and splashes in settings file I still get hit with it after starting the campaign. And yes, I tried reinstalling it, reparing it, clearing it out of register and then reinstalling it, installed everything that was required of me, installed new graphics drivers (made a clean install of them), installed new codecs (in case some movies do not work) and I did a lot of other work. Still doesn't work. So just be aware that this game still has that black screen problem and I'm not sure what is the cause of it. Maybe it is caused by Win 11, but I can't confirm it. That's why I can only give the game 1 star... because it just doesn't work for me.
I played it on the day of the release. Even though it has it's issues the amount of choices and different outcomes is insane. It's good to see it back and maybe, just maybe, someone will make a true spiritual successor to it and go even further with the premise of playing an agent, who can use different methods to achieve set goals. Anyway I don't know how you did it but thanks GoG for bringing back this forgottten gem that is Alpha Protocol!
I've finally decided to play Mankind Divided. I had a couple of crashes but nothing game breaking and I really liked this game. Graphics were nice, I had fun with hacking, new weapons, quest and I was going to give it 4 stars... but now I can't. Yesterday the game run just fine and today I can't play it. It always crashes during intro on either AMD or Square or other logo. It doesn't matter what I do. I tried reinstalling it: didn't work. Checked out some other ideas from different forums: no success. Basically I can't finish this game and that sucks because I really had fun with it.
This only my personal opinion so if anybody likes DOOM Eternal that is fine by me. For me there is a major difference between DOOM Eternal and Prodeus when it comes to gameplay. The former forces you to use certain weapon against that particular enemy or otherwise you will have a really bad day. Prodeus on the other hand gives you all types of weapons and says "here, have fun". Do you want to use a minigun here? Sure, why not. Do you want to blast those enemies with rocket launcher? Go for it. Do you want to wreck their faces with shotgun? Watch out for the blood. To sum it up: I can play how I want even though some of my choices may not be the best ones. But hey, that's what it means to face the consequences of my decisions and learn from those mistakes. However, there is also another thing that I like more about Prodeus. While Eternal forces me to use this or that weapon in Prodeus I cycle through weapons by myself... because they are fun to use and I have ammo to do so. Sure, some weapons are better in certain situations but when you have this massive fight and you can just do whatever the hell you want that's something I really like. It reminds me how fun was DOOM 2016 when I could engage those demon bastards however I liked. The game is not perfect, however, I will give it a 5 stars because of the amount of fun I have with it. It's a fast paced shooter with awesome gunplay and I can't wait for the devs to finish it.
I found out about this game thanks to GManLives and after finishing I can say this: it's great! Now not everything is perfect: sometimes controls feel weird, there is no map so I didn't knew where I'm supposed to go at the end and later levels can be frustrating. Despite that it's an original and creative game where you can play as this things that likes munching people... except more elite soldiers, they don't taste that great I guess. Anyway we get abilities through the entire game (by the way, dominating rocks) so there is always something new coming up all the way. This game is not perfect and I know it's short but for the creativity and the amount of just simple fun that I got out of it I just have to give it 5/5. Maybe we will get a sequel that will give us more and to be honest I simply wonder what they will do with the ending. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Plainly speaking this game is really boring. I do not know why they decided to go for open world. It's not fun, it's tedious and doesn't feel like Metro anymore. Other than that there are those neat "features" in the game. Check this out: you run really fast on the stairs and suddenly you're dead. By falling down from 3 or maybe 4 metres. Something that a normal human being can survive. I guess that's some new definition of "realism". Speaking of that do not try to check map in the van. Why? Because suddenly you will find your head stuck in the roof of the car and you have to get out to see the road. What else? Well, weapon modifications are an illusion. You can stick to older mods but new ones are generally better. Oh and by the way do you remember how many guns we had in Last Light? Now there is less of them. And while you can carry 3 weapons you cannot swam one of them for another. Why? Because developers thought that you absolutely must have this gun. It doesn't matter that maybe you want to make a different set without this weapon. There is one level that I liked: Yamantau. It felt like Metro again. Then I went to the desert where all crappy stuff started to piss me off even more then in the Volga level and I uninstalled the game. The game just wasn't fun. I felt like borefest and it was tedious. I'm not going to play it again and I lost my interest in the series if that's the way they want to go. Oh and one more thing. Cutscenes. Those damn cutscenes. Even Doom Eternal has those. Why? Why there has to be so many of them? In DOOM 2016 the immersion was ALWAYS there along with something important: FUN. But Metro decided to go the Eternal way: shut up and listen to crap ton of dialogue with bad voice acting and bland characters. Good job. Metro Exodus is yet another generic open world FPS but it has boring open world, boring characters, tedious karma system and not a lot of fun. Nice.
I played this game for over 40 hours so here's my opinion that I divided into five points. 1) Story and characters I really liked the story of Chernobylite and characters. I just wanted to know what will happen and how everything got so messed up. Plus your team is a band of really weird but nice characters. I love Mikhail and yes, listening to "Sex, Kvas and Hard Bass" changed my opinion about music. 2) Sound And while we are talking about music I also liked it. It adds to the atmosphere and it is enjoyable. I didn't got bored. Weapons do not kick like a mule and maybe they went into a more realistic approach with. Anyway I hoped that shotgun will have this more kickass sound, but that's just me. 3) Weapons I like the idea of modding them, but I just wish there could have been more of them. Like two pistols, two shotguns etc. And the fact that I can't get my hands on NAR carbine is just something that I cannot forget. I mean this gun looks awesome! I want to try it and shoot stuff with it and... oh well. 4) Scary moments are nice There are some scary moments in this game and while they are fun I hoped that there will be more of them. Farm 51 if you will ever read this please, try to expand on them and give us more of them in your next game or expanions or sequel or wherever they would fit just fine. 5) Leveling up Getting skills is nice. More damage, better scanner, more HP etc. But why in God's name did you had to put this info about new level in the center of the screen? And why you slow gameplay while doing it? In the corner would be fine, instead I can't see a damn thing when shooting to enemies. Anyway it's not a fast paced FPS like DOOM, instead you have to take it slow to eliminate enemies, think about your base, supplies, reducing harmful efect during missions etc. This game is good and I had fun with it, but I also think, that it has potential to be something really, really awesome. Maybe in sequel?
The game looks nice, but character animations are kinda weird. Also I don't like the way your character looks in inventory menu and during the creation. I don't know, maybe they could add some fighting stance or change it because right now it's just meh. Other than that the game shows promise and right now I give it 4 stars and I'll wait for another updates and see what they will do with the game.
