Mordheim: City of the Damned

Good to try, but not enough to addict

I've spend 55 hours in Mordheim. I've left due to the fact that AI is rather dumb and predictible, all its strenght lies in better stats. Ergo, there is one tactic which you have to follow through each encounter and it is boring after some time. I think it is main problem with that game. *Game is a little bit hardcore experience, which is rather good in my opinion. *Progress is slow. And game itself is pretty slow, because waiting for opponent's move takes a bit too long. Also interface is a little clunky. *Maps are rather interesting with some verticality and grim WH atmosphere. *Graphically it is acceptable. *Customization of characters is basic, but enough to distinguish units. *AI always play the same game. It is always on aggresive mode and will attack on sight, even outnumbered. *Sidequests are very often impossible to accomplish: My warband has around 96% success rate during 55 hours of gameplay, but only once I achieved stealing enemy idol, and it happened only because two enemy units with the highest morale did not know how to run around a building and were stuck (one of them was an ogre with 530hp, when my ogre has only 350hp). Another example: you have to gather three tags of specific enemy units. One of them being usually a leader. You managed to kill those three, even in one round; but didn't have chance to pick up last tags, because enemy routs instantly after slaying enemy leader. So, battle ends with this last tag lying down at feet of your unit and the sidequest is not complited. *Units do not differ very much in their functonality. *There is magic, but I do not know really why I should use it. It is rather weak, and generally more dangerous to casting unit than enemies. *There are many skills for your units... *...but most of them do not give much... *...and usually you do not have gold to learn them.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Fun, but not awesome.

I would give it 6-7 on 10, so it makes 3 stars and maybe a half. If you're WH40k fan - add a star (but if you are a fan, you' ve played that game already). If it is on a sale add half a star - so it makes 4 stars then. Otherwise it's 3, because 130PLN it's definitely too much. It didn't age that well. Played it on high difficulty, and took it slow (sightseeing, you know) - it took me about 11 hours to finish. Game is linear as a blaster shot. Basically it is a large corridor. + Fights are quite good. Shooting has decent "umpf!" to it, Melee is acceptable. I like difficulty level and enemies AI - they tend to fight more or less reasonable. + It is well paced and has nice fluidity. There is no boredom. + Ruined city with monumental architecture has some nice views. + Weapons variety and carrying system - I find it interesting. You have to gamble a bit which weapon will be more useful later. - Story is predictible. Not bad, rather Wh40k standard, but I have feeling that it is lazy written. There is no depth in any single character. There is also plot hole concerning main character which is completely unexplained, but it is important part of a story. - Some enemies are too bullet spongy for me - I would prefer just more if them, otherwise you have feeling that your mighty bolter is not that mighty as you thought. - Graphics are average at best, even for a 2011. - Technically there are some flaws like invisible walls, movement is a little clunky and you could be blocked by some minor obstructions (annoying in fights sometimes); two times picked servoskull didn't play message, something like this. - Game is a little obscure in descriptions. It is not a major flaw, but I'd prefer to have weapons descriptions in game - and not need to search internet for differences between, i.e. chainsword or poweraxe. - Final boss fight is unsatisfying as... sth very unsatisfying. It is QTE and I was disappointed at the end.

Legend of Grimrock 2

Old fashioned - not for everybody.

Game isn't cruel - it just doesn't care. If screw sth, you're screwed. After first look at the game, I thought that it is a junky game, but after I started playing I soaked in it. Gameplay is based on leading player from puzzle to puzzle - after solving one, you jump into another one. And so on, and so on... So, player is constantly craving for next dopamine release. This is what makes this game addictive. Game is very oldschool in nature, and does not provide you with many conveniences. Well, you have map where you can make notes. That's it. But this crudeness is what makes this game great. You are alone on an unknown island - deal with it. First thing you can screw is making not working group - yeah, that would suck. For instance: not taking an alchemist is propably making game a lot, lot harder. But if know sth about making rpg teams you should work it out fine. Generally, be versatile. Fights - meh... mostly boring by themselves, but are breaking monotony for a bit. (At the beginning moving on a grid is strange. Fight are mostly dodging around the grid.) Story - well... there is some. But not really. Graphics are nice. Sounds are ok, too. - both not great, just doing their job well. Still, recommend it, if you are oldschool player - if you play games since 2014 or sth, you won't like it (propably).

Deep Sky Derelicts: Definitive Edition

It is hard to give more than 2 stars...

... for a game than do not work properly. I played it for 5 hours, when stability issues finally discouraged me. I needed to reboot laptop about 3 times. Too much for me, as I treat my laptop with care. Apart from that, game was very pleasant. I liked initial gameplay, although I usually do not play deck building games. I bought it for it's estethics and still really want to play it, but last update was on 15.06.2020, so I will give it a pass, unfortunately.
