No game in history captured the Star Wars feel better than this, of course except for the X-Wing series. I would say the X-Wing series was the space combat while this was the Jedi and ground experience. The graphics have not aged well, but the gameplay is legendary. It is a mixture of shooter and action rpg. You talk to people through your mission, which are mostly pretty open to find your path to the objective. As you progress through the game you get force points to allocate to either light side or dark side force powers. You learn to use the saber and the force powers and become a full jedi by the end of the game. Everything you do in the game determines your alignment, from choosing light or dark force powers to force choking a bystander. This is a classic game, still a ton of fun. It is well worth the price and is mandatory for any true Star Wars fan!
Overall it was a fun game, but I was never a fan of the tournament idea. The game itself has no real story, it's just an arena setting. There are a ridiculous amount of mods out for this game, including the famous Troopers Star Wars mod. Any fans of shooters will love this game. If you're not sold on it, just search various mod websites to see all of the mods available. There are mods that turn this game into something completely different, so even if you don't like the game I would still recommend for the mods.
This is the Star Wars game I waited for since I was a child! A huge battlefield, from the movies and stories, that you can navigate on foot, in a vehicle, or in the air. Add the ridiculous amounts of maps and mods available and this game will keep you occupied for years to come. I highly recommend to any Star Wars fan and to anyone who enjoys a good action game.
This game was released shortly after Saving Private Ryan and it seems to try to follow along with the movie in many aspects. It did a great job of that and made a very immersive game. The only complaint I have with it is that the missions are too stuck into a path. I know this is how many shooters are and especially back in this time, but a little more freedom to find your way to objectives would've made it much more fun. The mutliplayer was fantastic and if you can't still find a server there are many bots and mods available for it. I highly recommend.
To anyone who loves the Back to the Future movies, this is a great tribute. I'm not really an adventure game fan, certainly not point-and-click, but the game captured the feeling of BttF so much that I really enjoyed it. As far as the game itself as a Point-and-Click adventure, I would say it's solid gameplay with fun puzzles. It would stand on its own without the license, but it's just that much better with it.
My brothers and I grew up on Double Dragon for the NES. We played it continuously through our childhood and still play it from time to time. It is one of gaming's classics and should be experienced by every generation. I have bought this version from GoG, but I haven't played it yet. While I can't comment on this specific version, I can't imagine that they messed it up very much being an old 8 bit classic. The sprites and art are a bit different than the NES games, but watching the video inspires confidence that it is still the same fun gameplay.
I got RTCW when it first came out and actually purchased an internet connection for the first time to try out the multiplayer. I soon upgraded from a 56k to cable just to play RTCW mp. This remains one of the most fun games I ever played and I continued playing it from release until about 2005. Even after that I continued playing it, but not daily like I did in the years prior. There are many mods and maps available, as well as very good multiplayer bots that even mimic some of the silliness you would see other players doing during matches. The single-player was fun and interesting. I highly recommend this game to anybody who likes shooters, WW2, or just plain fun games. I imagine this is still a favorite at LAN parties... that is if people still have them.
