I have to admit I was a bit scared by the time limit idea, but its really not as bad as they made it out to be. Its very similar to the last one with defusing bombs or collecting substances. With the substance collection you dont fail the mission in my experience so far, but its more like the meld from the last entry. Yes, you can use mods. The mods are only on the other platform, but sites exist to allow you to download from the workshop. There are also instructions that explain how to install them in this version. And there are a ton of mods, including one to put Star Wars characters and items in every aspect of the game from what Ive seen. There is also mods to remove any time limits if you wish. The sound and graphics are top notch and I havent encountered a single bug yet. It is different enough from EU and EW to feel like a different game, so its still worth playing them, but it is definitely one of the best entries in the series. I have no doubt Ill be playing this one for years to come like the previous entry that I still play today. I highly recommend it for strategy fans, sci fi fans, and fans of the series (in which case its a must have!)
Back in the days of Battlefield 1942, every SW fan that played it thought about how awesome it would be to play that game in the SW universe. Youre not a hero, not a jedi, just a trooper in a huge battle. A mod team made Galactic Conquest for BF1942 that was wildly popular... a couple years later Battlefront was announced. This game had fantastic graphics that still hold up today. Its nothing like the current series calling itself Battlefront, but you can play it knowing how old it is and its still immersive, pretty, and wont make you cringe. As all Lucas Arts titles, it has classic SW music and effects. The whole package puts you right into some of the most iconic battles as a frontline soldier. You have battles between the Alliance and the Empire that are from the original trilogy. The gameplay is a lot like BF1942 with command posts all over the map, flying and land vehicles you may use, and tickets that count down with player deaths and when a team has a minority of the command posts captured. There are different classes that perform roles like regular troopers, engineers that fix vehicles and objects, and medics. It has an instant action option that allows you to pick a map rotation, or galactic conquest that allows you to pick a side and conquor the galaxy planet by planet againts fully functional bots for single player. It of course has multiplayer options as well. This was one of my favorite SW games of all time and one of my favorite series. If you want to experience the actual Battlefront series and a truly immersive SW experience, this game will not disappoint! You will see how far 2015 and 2017 strayed from the winning formula.
I first was exposed to Warcraft on a shareware disc of WC1. I played those three missions for hours and hours until I finally got the full game. This series is a typical base building and army building game with a campaign for each faction. The various units have a rock/paper/scissors formula, which cause you to think about how you build your army. The tone of the game and story were dark, where the horde was pure evil. WC3 started the real cartooney look and sillines, which unfortunately intensified in WoW. This is one of my favorite game series and stories of all time thanks to these two gems. The first one is a bit rough to play since it is so dated, but I still recommend it. The graphics were good for the time, but are still immersive. The sound on the first one accomplishes its objective with the limitations of the time, but WC2 still has fantastic effects and one of the best soundtracks. I highly recommend you get these for the price if you are a Wsrcraft, fantasy, or RTS fan. Experience two of the greatest RTS of all time!
