What can I tell? I played this game 20 years after playing it as a teen. It is amazing. The story is great, the remastering is pretty good, the riddles are great, with nothing too illogical, the characters are great, the voices are great. Yes, this is a useless review. Just buy it.
I played Pandora after playing Under a Killing Moon, games we had 25 years ago at home. It was pretty fun, and I even think I did not complete the game at that time. I love Tex Murphy character, made me laugh quite a lot. The story is pretty good and you just want to know what's next. I did not vomit playing the game which was quite a surprise given that most FPS makes me want to puke (litteraly) so the controls were not so bad. One of the issues with those 3D first person view adventure games is that you will probably miss some objects becasue you have so many places to search and some objects are a bit too well hidden. I found the game pretty difficult but with a good hints system (UHS), the game was still fun to play. About the different endings, it would take too long to run through them all, but I went on youtube after that, you will find all scenes ... and some endings are reaally funny. If you want some fun, be really nice, or be really mean, that will be more fun. On the bad side, there was a bit too much "find the key/code to open the door" riddles but a lot of them were quite fun to solve. There is the unavoidable labyrinth stage, totally useless as usual, but hey, they give you the map, so not so bad, just boring. And a tiny bit of action towards the end of the game, which I always find useless/annoying in an adventure game.
I just played Toonstruck that I never had heard of until recently (I was a Lucasart fan as a kid). I just loved the game and regret not to have played it as a kid. I was a bit dubious of a "Roger Rabbit"-like gameplay, but I was convince to play reading some reviews. I laughed a lot which did not happen to me since a long time with a game. Every single character was so funny, i loved the jokes (very sex oriented to be honest) and the riddles where quite fun. The game was long enough and the riddles reasonably difficult and had to look at the walkthrough ony twice. Christopher Lloyd's was quite fun. I am so happy to have discovered this game. And yes, I found stuff as "Jim's Gym" very funny.
I had a lot of hopes on that game but that will be my first and last GK. I was a Lucasarts player when a kid and never took the time to test a Sierra. I played the Leisure Suite Larry as a young adult and loved it. So my review is not influenced by any nostalgia ... What did i like in GK Sins of the Father. The story was ok. I did not find it great, but I wanted to know the end, so at least that is something. The rest, sorry for the fans, but I found that it sucked. First, I hate the GK character. His face, his behaviour and his awful voice made me want to hit him all along the game. The graphics/background were very cold, the characters (except Dr John and Willy which I liked) felt extremely unpersonal. No atmosphere. I hated the music which i found very annoying. I did not buy the love story. The worst was what is extremely important to me : the riddles ! The game is very long, but is is due to the storytelling through the dialogues and not the good riddles. I rapidly get fed up with the dialogues, and most of the games was about clicking endlessly on the dialogue boxes. The riddles were incredibly easy except a small number of them which were pixel hunting or due to issues in the gameplay (think if the riddle in day 1 in Jackson Square). I just had played Toonstruck before and GK riddles were absolutely ridiculous compared to that game. Some of the mechanics in the game were making the game slow for actions of zero interest. In summary, i found that the game was incredibly boring and annoying. I know many of you will think that i am an idiot who did not understand anything, but that's my player's experience.
