The Sinking City Remastered

Dated Graphics, Absolute Gem.

2007 graphics, animation and gameplay. And bloody beautiful at that. A city sinking into despair and the sea with lovecraftian horror and sly humour. This is a fantastic detective game where you follow one plot line to the next. About 10 hours in i am finding the gameplay getting a tad stale, find a clue with an address, find the address on the map, go to location, shoot some monsters, find another address, rince and repeat, albeit with the occasional stop to the police station or city hall to 'go through the archives'. None of that, either the graphics or gameplay really matter. The characters are engaging, the music is hauntingly superb and the city itself is like very litttle i have ever experienced in a game before. I keep finding little things here or there that just put a smile on my face when i discover them such as a big button I am repeatedly told not to push or sly wit in the many conversations. Unusually i find myself actually bothering to read everything, trying to get more of the fantastic lore and work out what is going on. I feel like my choices in the main quest matter and i am eagerly awating every next turn. In conclusion, look past the dated graphics and repetive gameplay loop and there is an absolute gem of a game here, really well written (so far), lots of humour and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. Really looking forward to see what comes next.
