I've been enjoying this game for the last several hours. It definitely borrows from the classic Masters of Orion series in a good way. The graphics are polished and enjoyable. The background music is atmospheric. The tech tree is very large, the alien races are varried and unique. The ship design and combat are easy to understand and fun to take part in. I have been disappointed in many games that try to be a new Masters of Orion, but not this one.
Amazing classic game that started an entire franchise. It's a bit basic compared to the later releases, but it still holds water. Despite the age the graphics still look nice, the sound is good and the gameplay and atmosphere is all around fun.
I loved the old Exile series from back in the 90's. The Avernum remakes are done very well. The story and tactical turn based combat more than make up for the primitive graphics and combat sound.
