Someone here wrote "All weapons feel similar, all rooms feel similar. There are too little differences to notice that don't add much to every run." And I totally agree. I would also add, that ammo for more advanced weapons ends pretty fast and it's not easy to replenish it. Play Hexen instead.
Forget about the mediocre Hard West 1, the sequel is much better. The devs took what was working in the first game (playing cards, weird guns, paranormal Wild West) and added a bunch of other good stuff: crew members with unique skills and, most importantly continuous turn mechanic (the action points of a crew member renew when he/she make a kill). This second feature sometimes changes this TB strategy game into fast fast-paced logic puzzle, where you try to figure out, what is the most optimal way to kill the enemy and to clear the area. The game definitely deserves recommendation.
Another bitter-sweet experience, similar to the resurrected "Thief". The Hitman is finally back from the abyss, but not in good shape. "Instinct" simplifies the game too much, levels are mostly linear, they are no longer sandboxes that much like in older Hitman games, and AI could be more unforgiving. The only good thing about this game is that it put Hitman again in the spotlight, and allowed to gather enough attention, so developers could create 2016's Hitman (which is a way better game). My recommendation is that: if you want to have much raw and oldschool experience play Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts, and Hitman: Blood Money; if you want to experience more modern gameplay, play the new Hitman saga, now rebranded under Hitman World of Assassination. Hitman: Absolution you can simply skip.
The game has well-written, strong, and enigmatic main characters who are also very ruthless and brutal. The plot is like a class-B action movie but with many memorable sequences. The area where the game sucks, are the mechanics: stupid enemy and friendly AI, poorly implemented cover system, and bad shooting mechanic (for example only automatic reload, really?). Plot and characters were the only things that got me hooked and wanted to continue. If you can forgive many flaws, I still recommend it.
The game is very good and I had a real fun playing it, but has rather little to offer. The story mode lasts about 4-5h (without chasing all of the secrets, achievements, and level challenges), and besides that, there is also an arena mode, that extends gameplay a little. The level design is linear and every level in constructed similarly, a room full of enemies to conquer, a platforming section, another room, etc. etc., and boos and the end of the chapter. The story itself is funny and positive, you play as a "female Zorro" fighting for the poor. The fights can be challenging, and you need to be in constant movement, use the environment, kick parry, and use skills - especially on the harder difficulties.
The game is difficult but gives a lot of satisfaction, when you complete a mission. Each member of your team has unique abilities needed to complete the various challegnges that game sets up for you. The game also has a unique atomsphere, like a series of old war movies that were never made.
